Ice Bell Harmonica

Refrigerated Organ Module

Who doesn’t like the sound of ice tinkling in their cocktail? Festive, social, convivial and pure of tone.

The Ice Ball Harmonica is a series of tuned, inverted oval double-wall borosilicate vessels, arranged much like a glass harmonica. The performance space is refrigerated to keep the alcohol almost filling the vessels cold enough that the spherical water ice “strikers” do not melt.

The stems of these vessels are moved by hand or stringed striker like a piano, and the water ice ball strikes the wall of the vessel to make the pure borosilicate tone we all love when enjoying a highball in our double-walled borosilicate highball glass here in the very melty tropics. But with a melody, chords, etc. Cheers!
