Just found out the current popular mnemonic, the sentence to help you memorize the names of the planets of the Solar System is "My very educated mother just served us nachos." Doesn't really click with the subject. Plus one might say tacos by accident.
Might be a fun way to get kids to learn the
planets, have them come up with their own and post them on the bulletin board. Maybe the class votes on one.
I suspended model planets from the ceiling of my baby girl's room around the globe shaped light representing the Sun. At night tucking her in sometimes we'd list them together.
Anyway I think it's good to teach kids about the neighborhood we live in. Might be a better way than the intellectual matriarch nachos waitress thing.

When I was learning the guitar, someone told me to remember e,a,d,g,b,e, you only need to repeat the phrase Every American Dame Gives Birth Early. There must be hundreds of these..... example: Northern Ireland counties - FATLAD - Fermanagh, Antrim, Tyrone, Londonderry, Armagh, Down - also used as the title of the very good book "Fat Lad" by Glenn Paterson - (though not as excellent as "Ripley Bogle" by McLiam Wilson which somewhat impinges on similar territory). |

My best friends Irish and was just talking to me about adjusting his guitar, hows that for a coincidence? My daughter would say thats the universe winking at you. |

One I remember doesn't work any more:
My Very Easy Method: Just Set Up Nine Planets.
But they had to go & demote Pluto, which messes it up :(
(Disclaimer: I understand & support Pluto's demotion...) |

That's a good one. Could just say "My Very Easy Method: Just Spell Uhhh... Nine" |

I'd like to see one with gutter humor written around that massive gas blaster Uranus. "Man! Very eww! Massive just stinky uranus nastiness!" |

The time you spend working out and then remembering the mnemonic, you could have just memorised the list of things you are trying to remember. |
|
| |
There are a couple of the list the point of whose mnemonics has entirely eluded me, of which this is one. Most people seem to have no problem remembering the order of the planets at all. |
|
| |
The other one is the colours of the rainbow, because they just obviously blend into each other. |
|
| |
However, this is a neat mnemonic and I like it even though it's pointless. |

Neat and pointless, that's what I'm shooting for. ;) |
