Lenticular Printed Floor That Appears To Move As You Walk On It

Uses your eyes to fool your balance mechanisms to think you're walking on a moving surface.

For a haunted house, you walk across these floor tiles that utilize linticular printing to give the effect of movement as your viewing angle changes when you walk across them.

So as you enter the room, the first angle shows, for instance, a rickety rope bridge over a massive canyon heaving precariously to the left, but as you move forward on it, it appears to swing to the right. There's no movement but your eyes might be tricked into thinking there is and walking across this as it appears to heave back and forth might be challenging in a giggle producing way.

Boat deck on a haunted pirate ship, a tightrope at the circus, maybe the ledge of a building during an earthquake.

Less of that, Sergeant, or we'll introduce you to a couple of subordinates you won't be pleased to encounter; Corporal Punishment, and Private Suffering.

       [+] for the idea, [doc].

How do you mitigate the inevitable scuffs and scratches from foot traffic ? Unless you install this in a mosque, you'll have to work around the problem that very few patrons are going to show up in carpet slippers or bring their bowling shoes...

You can have lenticular (and more generally microlens) arrays which are covered in a flat layer transparent. This typically requires the lenses to be made of a higher refractive index than available for polymers.

I'm surprised you left out General Mayhem.

       Excellent idea Doc

//floor tiles that utilize linticular printing// - "linticular printing" is of course the embedding into the floor by passing foot-traffic of the lint fallout from a particularly active washer/dryer.

I was thinking partons would show up in carpet slippers or bring their bowling shoes.

       Oh, right.

So, just Dolly and her family ?

       Any Parton would do.

And you know, I was thinking of cutting and pasting but I thought "You're too busy to be doing this stuff, people depend on you, just type it, that'll save time!"

I type incredibly fast and incredibly horribly. I don't even bother to look at those little red dots that say "What the hell is a ptaron?"
