The US and other 1st world countries have an issue with their
corporations going to 3rd world countries and milking their
cheap labor. (I am going to stick to the US to make it simple)
I propose that all products imported to the US will have to
comply with US labor laws, EPA standards, OSHA,
etc if they
want to bypass a tariff.
The tariff can then be incrementally raised till it just becomes
a flat out law: "no imports without meeting standards."
Less outsourcing issues, less screwing poor people issues,
less pollution in china, etc.
