There are countless silly, exploitative, or outdated laws that remain on the books: speed traps justified for fundraising, tolls and "user fees" tacked on top of tax-funded infrastructure, blue laws, mandatory recycling separation even where it all ends up in the same landfill, and so on. Designate one
day a year -- say, November 7th --to obey these laws absolutely to the letter. No rolling through stop signs. No crossing the street except at crosswalks. No buying alcohol on restricted days. Pay every fee, fill every form, follow every absurd rule exactly as written. The purpose of this is for us all to recognize how slow traffic would go on some roads, how annoying it is to check your land for the three toed tree roo, and other problems thereby caused. The result would be mass inconvenience, long queues, traffic chaos and, ideally, some very red-faced local officials.

The mass observance of the speed limits alone would shut down cities. |

All other days it's The Purge. |

Isn't this just Switzerland? |

I don't think that obeying the law is a new idea, even if the motivation for doing is atypical. |
