The Ruler with a Hand is available in 12” and 18”(or metric equivalent). Made of wood, this ruler has a small hand infused at a 90-degree angle on one side. (The side near the 0”) It can be used as a convenient backscratcher in the office or at home, whilst also being a steady ruler that will hold on to the side of the desk, wall or table as you measure, without slipping away like old nasty rulers do. Now I know that someone will want a 36” one, but that would be a YardStick (or MeterStick), so let two 18”(or equivalent) rulers hold hands. (You will have to read from both sides, increments are printed on both sides, also.) It’s also nice to have 2, as you can measure and back scratch at the same time.

Why does it have to be a small hand? So it looks like a measuring tape?

I prefer my Rule of Thumb.

[methinksnot] How can it be a small foot?
xandram, Apr 18 2006

If you had a hinge on the hand and the correct markings, then you could use it as a protractor as well.

       It's only a foot if it's 12".

Who *was* that masked man?

The ruler could be marked in standard postal sizes, for "back of the envelope" calculation.

xandram, Apr 18 2006

       I've got 12 inches.

       /will she scratch my back/
