Somatic Vegetative Sound Choir

A group where people use each others' bodies to make music

My ex-sister-in-law used to intermittently place her hand over my nephew's mouth when he cried to create a kind of repetitive syncopated sound until he reached the age where he suggested she wasn't taking his needs seriously when she did this. Fair point. However, our bodies are musical instruments and as adults with consent we could use each other in this way. If we vocalise, perhaps in a scat kind of way, as continuous tones or undertone singing, our mouths can be intermittently interrupted in this manner and also we can beat each other's chests or backs to modulate these tones in other ways. Furthermore, we can slap each other on various parts of the body to produce other noises, beat each other with sticks or tap to produce dull, resonant or tympanic tones as occur in medical examination and so on.

So my proposal is this: just as choirs get together to sing, groups of naked or scantily clad people could get together with consent and proceed to tap, beat and slide each other's surfaces and intermittently pinch each other's noses and place hands over their mouths so as to create an interesting musical landscape.

Still looking for the vegetative part.

I was imagining songs of the mycelium.

Approved, as a worthy extension of the Baldyphone. (see link)
