The plastic finger is mounted on a stepper-motor driven gimbal. Type the name of the astronomical object into the app, and the gimbal swivels the finger to point at it.
'Moon'- it points at the moon, even if it is below the horizon.
'Mercury' etc, obviously.
'ISS' - the space station.

I was hoping it would be much much larger, like a huge visible satellite, and the third digit. That would tell those Martians exactly what we think of them. |
