Of course most people who save lives don't have face tattoos so this probably wouldn't catch on, but being that this is the halfbakery, eh, I'll throw it out there anyway.
I'd be able to have one myself, saved a guy from drowning once.
Hmm, maybe it doesn't have to be on the face. Okay, over the
heart maybe?
ADDENDUM: Instead of a star, a heart might be better. (Loris' idea)

Star inside a heart tattoo

Do you get both if you save someone who's in the water, then change your mind and drown them instead? |
|
| |
LOL! Sure, I don't make the rules. Maybe have the star crossed out with a teardrop next to it. |
|
| |
Instead of a star, maybe a flame symbol for life saved? Looks like an upside down teardrop, coloured orange instead of blue. |
|
| |
[xenzag]'s idea would appear like a Taoist yin-yang symbol, an ouroboros of the teardrop chasing the flame. |
|
| |
But would need to settle on something. "Hey bro, the star tattoo doesn't mean that anymore." "Hu? What does it mean now?" (whispers answer discretely) "OH HELL NO!!" |

Oops, got that double post glitch thingy. |

//The teardrop tattoo by the eye indicates the wearer has murdered someone.// |
|
| |
Mental note to self - be more cautious around clowns in future. |
|
| |
To be fair there are SOME clowns that haven't murdered people. Probably. |
|
| |
Nobody knows how many lives they've saved or inadvertently caused to end. |
|
| |
That said, I know I've saved at least one, I suspect several, but I've also been involved in scenarios which, had they changed slightly, might have prevented deaths. |
|
| |
I figure that every possible scenario from every decision made by every single speck of consciousness from microbes upwards exists simultaneously as overlapping universes in a crystalline form where time is illusion and only consciousness exists bouncing around in an infinite fractal pinball machine where the smallest is the biggest at the same time. |

Sweet. Other unfettered minds. I thought that those thoughts were my own alone. : ] |

We really have to do away with brainwashing. It's a huge impediment. |

Tentacles. Everything leaves a mark. |

I think a heart might be more appropriate than a star (or a flame).
The colour is opposite on the colour wheel.
The shape is close to an upside-down version. |
|
| |
And hearts are often used to represent health, or 'life'. |
|
| |
Hey, that's good, adding that. I'll give you credit. |
|
| |
Maybe a heart with a star in it, or a star with a heart in it. Hearts and stars are already a thing, but together they might be a unique symbol for "Iife saved". |
|
| |
Hmm. A first responder might have a few rows of these on their chest or shoulder, kind of like fighter planes with kills symbols on the cowling. |

Best link I've seen all day! |
