I see there are at least four surviving original writers. I'd tell them to get to work with the new series and bringing back the original ethos, messages, and views of the issues of man's challenges that made the franchise great.
Somebody has to have thought of just the AI reissue of Kirk, Spock and
the gang. (link for how we could do this easily) Other names might be along the lines of "Star Trek: Voyage To The Future", "Star Trek: The Legacy Continues" etc. Possibly have the original writers choose new writers of their and coach them.
Here's the list:
David Gerrold:82 Wrote the iconic "The Trouble with Tribbles" (and contributed to TAS).
Norman Spinrad: 85 Wrote "The Doomsday Machine." He's referenced in fan forums as still with us in discussions from recent years.
Chet Richards: 81 Co-wrote "The Tholian Web" (with Gene L. Coon credited). Noted in older Trek BBS threads (around 2017) as alive.
Judy Burns: 78 Co-wrote "The Tholian Web" (with Chet Richards). Similarly referenced as still alive in fan communities around that time.
I'd also offer to have AI versions of them appear in episodes as they appeared when they were writers for the original series. Let them get some credit on the actual screen. I'm guessing half of them would choose to be "red shirts" just for fun. I know I would.
Kirk: "Looks like alien activity in the colony ruins. Spock, Bones, ensign Smith and Remulac, meet me in the transporter room." (on the planet, Ensign Smith, red shirt #1): "Captain, I hear noises coming from that cave!" Kirk: "Ensign Remulac, get in there to see what's going on!" "Yes captain!"
Hmm, wonder if you could fund it by having people pay to be extras or have cameo rolls. Maybe even have bidding for the parts.
