Team Rolling Wheel Race

Two teams forming a wheel holding hands race by rolling along a line like a tire on a street.

You have two teams of say ten people each. Each team holds hands, facing outwards forming a circle.

Before trying to read the long blathering attempt at an explanation, just look at the video. If viewed from overhead, the notches in the tire treads each represent a person, the road in the video represents the line they race along.

Each team has one person in contact with a line running down the field forming the visual of a wheel on a street when looking downwards at them. The teams run such that these wheels "roll" along that line requiring each team member to run sideways, backwards and forwards in a circular motion, very confusing and hard to do, which is the point.

Just getting to "roll" slowly would be hard enough.

See the video to get the idea. Each tread notch in the tire represents a person, the road represents the line.

Other than the very hard to do geometry involved, it's a race like any other. First team across the finish line wins.

This would be played on a standard sport field If there were no lines each team could just follow the edge of the field.

To be clear, judges would blow the whistle if for instance the persons representing the contact point with the road (line) weren't lined up perfectly just like a wheel would be on a road.

Just occurred to me, might need to lines so you could verify the wheels stay round. Don't wanna to a tank tread thing.

Replace the tread notches with people in your mind and the road with a line on the field. https://www.istockp...271327988-373929037

Wonder if this should be called "Ring Around The Rosie Race." Kind of gives you the picture of what's going on without the 600 word description that even I can't get through without falling asleep. Race around the rosie?

Just a ring a Rosie race without the straight line tracking could be fun. Each team has 8 people, one wears a bright coloured top for easy tracking, on the start signal each team forms a circle holding hands and races in a circle... First team to do 10 revolutions (or 20 or 100) wins

       That works too.

Could have the "all fall down" being the thing to avoid. Team that can hold on and keep the spinning wheel going the fastest would win.
