Many people have boxes of photographic slides that have never seen the light of day in many years. Now you can easily install them on your venetian blinds and convert it into a vertical light table. Here's how it works:
Each slat of the venetians acts as a 35mm slide holder, featuring an additional
rail running along the top and bottom, gripping the slides and holding them in place. The front of the slats is composed of a translucent material enabling the slides to be fully illuminated.
The resulting images won't be projected, but will form a pattern of colours and forms when there is strong sunlight. To use as a light table and view individual pics, simply deploy a magnifying glass.

I like the match between 35mm film and Venetian blind sizes. I feel there is a good idea in there. However, colour film is bleached by long exposure to light. Prints of cine films are only illuminated for a fraction of a second but they lose their colours in time. |

You were recommended to keep projection of slides in the old Navitar 2kW Xenon projectors to less than 45 seconds, as the slide lost colour saturation as the slide warmed, but that is a separate process, and the slide film recovers. |

/norm/ Not to worry. They all will end up monochrome shades of magenta/pink, but that's not bad. UV hates color film pigments. Blue goes first, then yellow, and the magenta slowly goes pink and you lose any sense of what the image was. It's actually a good way to dispose of slide images in a respectful way, giving them a last look before they retire, and who knows what the eventual pattern on the window will be when its evolution is complete. The alternative is perfect preservation in a hermetic 35mm slide case at the bottom of some landfill somewhere. |
