I see Samsung announced a 2 inch 640x480 LCD display. This has sufficient pixels to form good video. A pair of these with optics to occupy field of view and with a helmet to sense orientation and you could take virtual walks anywhere in the world as you move on your treadmill. Treadmills are very boring as is. You could even stop and look at something on the edge of the trail. Maybe a bot carries the two cameras that make 3d and you hike through your nearby beach or forest. It may have treads so it can handle terrain.

This would eventually have you walking sideways on a treadmill, I'm not sure how this is different from existing virtual reality headsets, and baked...Canada.
