I think of it as having the squeeze bulb for the air built into the dust pan handle, like one of those hand held horns with a rubber bulb. |

I'd just have the hood be attached to the vacuum so it sucked the dust up that wasn't scooped into the pan. Blowing into a pile of dust is gonna make a dust cloud that's harder to direct. The hood would keep most of the dirt or whatever's being pushed into the pan by the broom from clogging the small slit under the hood. Just the small particle stuff the broom didn't get would be sucked up. Might have very small comb pattern so there's space for just the small dust and the hood doesn't just hit the ground and block it. |
