For velomobiles and ultralight cars, the most lightweight solution is clear plastic. But that becomes quickly unclear. So they resort to glass, which is extremely heavy.

There are expensive lightweight solutions. But here's mine:

My solution: A lightweight clear framework (mesh) which holds a thin layer of clear plastic. This makes for a lightweight but strong structure. The plastic or cellophane is replaced when it becomes unclear.

       How fine a mesh ?

My solution is two layers of plastic, the outermost being the replaceable one.

that should be easy to try. I'll test this during the coming month.
