Halfbakery: Calendar
A Really, Really Half-Baked Calendar   (+22, -6)  [vote for, against]

All new HB Calendar now available, get yours early while supplies last! (Actually, it would probably be better if you didn't all rush at once, seeing as the server already crashed once this morning.)

This time you can post your own artwork.

po's "Halfbakery Artistic Appreciation Calender 2003" is on it's way (same package), once we've finished posting the pictures.

[Earlier annotations deleted for the sake of brevity.]

nice. Photo on its way to you via email. croissant
-- sappho, Aug 01 2002

Yegads, I can't believe the similarities between my visage and that of the late PeterSealy. I really can't.
-- PeterSilly, Aug 01 2002

Evidence, please.
-- angel, Aug 01 2002

Photo has been sent to DrC in accordance with instructions.
-- PeterSilly, Aug 01 2002

well, I don't know if I've been here long enough to qualify, but here ya goes, just in case.
-- yamahito, Aug 01 2002

//we did make him out to be a humour-less rotter//

ha, ha. "Funny" story, actually, about the "late PS" and the halfbaked calendar. Last fall, when this idea was new, I sent Mr. Sealy a bunch of photos and told him to take his pick (not expecting him to use so darn many of them!). He wrote me an e-mail something to the effect of "you're smart, good-looking, what the hell are you doing wasting away on a farm in the midwest?" (paraphrased, but the general idea is the same). At that time, I just laughed....but, after suffering some devasting losses, I took his words to heart and kept asking myself what the hell I was doing in the midwest getting my heart and bones broken over and over again..... so, PeterS....um...yeah, if you can hear me....I'm not wasting away in the midwest any longer.... ;-) of course, I *still* can't seem to get dates......
-- Susen, Aug 01 2002

So what heck are you doing in Guatemala?
-- DrCurry, Aug 01 2002

Belize, and the beaches are great.
-- Susen, Aug 01 2002

Who cares, namaste? Big hugs to Susen :0)
-- DrBob, Aug 01 2002

Hey, Pet.. err, I mean DrCurry; any idea on how long it will take?

(Is all pretense lost?)
-- yamahito, Aug 01 2002

namaste: just send a photograph.

yamahito: all done.
-- DrCurry, Aug 01 2002

I've made my contributions, but where's Dr. C's photo???
-- XSarenkaX, Aug 01 2002

XSX, you are *kidding*, right?
-- Susen, Aug 01 2002

Apparently not. Don't worry, I'll find something suitable.
-- DrCurry, Aug 01 2002

po: Believe me, I've tried. We need a picture of *you* that is a) in focus, b) well lit.
-- DrCurry, Aug 01 2002

I've just sent DrCurry some of the photos that mighty_cheese left on IBD. I realised that if anyone be included on this year's calender, he should.

Perhaps there should be a "Tristedembar" month for it.
-- yamahito, Aug 01 2002

rfr: The rules will be strictly enforced, but only once I've had a chance to see who sent what.

yamahito: I am told by a higher power that mighty_cheese published those photos on the web, so yeah, okay.
-- DrCurry, Aug 01 2002

A noble decision, sir. If you would like *someone's* permission, I believe that a certain halfbaker here is in contact with mighty_cheese's girlfriend. Email me for details.
-- yamahito, Aug 01 2002

Okay, revisions made, rules enforced.
-- DrCurry, Aug 02 2002

Hey, I got put in one of jutta's specially reserved spots!

Anyway, I still don't see a picture labeled DrCurry. My special request is to have this photo next to the artist formerly known as PeterSealy's photo. Right, everyone?
-- XSarenkaX, Aug 02 2002

<HHGG>"Will one of you *please* tell her."</HHGG>
-- angel, Aug 02 2002

Either she's playing dumb or I just felt the collective IQ of the site drop by 45 points.
-- Susen, Aug 02 2002

(peels away DrCurry's latex mask, to reveal...)
-- -alx, Aug 02 2002

"She" is fully aware - I need to work on my sarcastic tone.
-- XSarenkaX, Aug 02 2002

angel - DrC has posted said evidence. Like I said, I simply cannot believe the number of similarities... This month, next year, is mine, all mine.
-- PeterSilly, Aug 02 2002

His smile is more much disturbing than yours.
-- angel, Aug 02 2002

PeterSilly, don't you mean this month, THIS year? I don't see next year's calendar on there just yet.
-- XSarenkaX, Aug 02 2002

Hey bliss, who are you calling a wannabe?

Also, XSX, I may have misunderstood, but I thought the calendar incorporated the year-1 idea, meaning that this year is 2001. Then again, I may have misunderstood. In which case I feel I've already muffed up two days of my month.
-- PeterSilly, Aug 02 2002

Wait a minute. Britus.org ain't workin.'

Unabubba takes so much after Unababy...
-- RayfordSteele, Aug 02 2002

Oh, sorry. I'm kind of new and haven't read that idea, so I didn't understand. Is it still in the HB? Perhaps some links to the contributing ideas should be posted.
-- XSarenkaX, Aug 02 2002

I just figured out the connection about half an hour ago myself...

All together now for old time's sake: 1-2-3 Baked!
-- RayfordSteele, Aug 02 2002

PS: Correct; I was thinking about putting together a HB clock, to make things clearer, if I can get the Javascript straight. But not tonight: Lord of the Rings just came out on video.

XSX: Ditto.
-- DrCurry, Aug 03 2002

so, I'm allowed to annotate now? yes, I gave in. peer pressure and all that.....
-- runforrestrun, Aug 03 2002

Welcome back from me, too, Susen. You really should write a book some day.
-- beauxeault, Aug 05 2002

I believe she has. Or is. Or something.
-- DrCurry, Aug 05 2002

In response to the two (haha) Emails I received already, and to head off similar ones, I'M THE ONE ON THE LEFT!
-- dag, Aug 05 2002

Sending a different photo... I'm way too small to be seen in that one at scale. (In this picture, there are 47 people.... None of them can be seen)

maybe the one from Red Square...
-- RayfordSteele, Aug 05 2002

Evidently not today. Some others added. We now have a swimsuit section.
-- DrCurry, Aug 06 2002

Nope, shoe polish.
-- madradish, Aug 06 2002

demoted eh, Curly?

now in the month of Distemper.
-- po, Aug 06 2002

//We now have a swimsuit section.//

Does this mean I can submit another photo? <g>

(It's a slow day at the office and I'm bored)
-- Susen, Aug 06 2002

I love the little doggie .... how much is that dogggie in the window ?? <SIGH> But Harvey would never stand for another dog in the house.
-- 8th of 7, Aug 06 2002

Hi 8th,
The little, little doggie is a handful at 2 lbs and barely 4 inches high; a complete bundle of energy. JRTCA registration eligible (parents registered), $300 with pedigree, $200 w/o and a $25 refund upon proof of spaying. Where shall I ship her too? ;-)
-- Susen, Aug 06 2002

<BIG SIGH> My previous dog (a JR cross) had a litter of 4 pups and they were, and are ..... little fiends. But such fun, especially when they started to escape from the puppy box and explore the world. My parents still have two of them. We just (almost) finished housetraining Harvey so another tiny pooch is out of the question for a while ....... oh well. Thanx for the offer ....
-- 8th of 7, Aug 06 2002

Sorry, I need to get that one scanned in, first...
-- RayfordSteele, Aug 07 2002

[A couple more added; found a swimsuit version of the late, great PS in the archives; reinstated the pet section, just to accommodate blissmiss, who apparently is an even worse photographer than whoever po gets to photograph her.]
-- DrCurry, Aug 08 2002

I think you can see bliss' hands in that photo......just.
-- kaz, Aug 08 2002

<Displays ignorance> Who the hell is Todd Rundgren?<Displays ignorance>
-- kaz, Aug 08 2002

Is it significant that kaz omitted the terminating "/" in his last anno? ;op
-- yamahito, Aug 08 2002

Woohoo a compliment
[yamahito] huh?
-- kaz, Aug 08 2002

<smiles> exactly </smiles>
-- yamahito, Aug 08 2002

bliss: just protecting the innocent. (Though I realized the negative connotations after I posted it, so I may rethink that one.)
-- DrCurry, Aug 08 2002

Re Todd Rundgren, I have an original-issue 7" vinyl 45 of "I Saw the Light", with "Black Maria" and "Long Flowing Robe" on the B-side. One of my favourites. Incidentally, he played the guitar on "Bat out of Hell".
-- angel, Aug 08 2002

More people and animals posted (some in the wrong place, but we ran out of time).
-- DrCurry, Aug 12 2002

Cheese-N-Rice! Dr. Curry! Your caption on forrest's latest picture is worth charging admission into this site just to read! <grin> (it can be read by placing the cursor over the picture for anyone that missed it)

Nice date, forrest. I think I dated her brother once.
-- Susen, Aug 13 2002

[DrCurry], is there any way to get our lovely calendar to print on a single page, or at least a page per year? I'm having trouble getting things to fit.
-- XSarenkaX, Aug 14 2002

Probably. An upgrade is in the works. But please don't hold your breath.
-- DrCurry, Aug 14 2002

ok...nevermind it then.
-- XSarenkaX, Aug 14 2002

"...he's a Curry, she's a Curry... wouldn't you like to be a Curry too..."
-- waugsqueke, Aug 14 2002

T-37, [rfr]?
-- bristolz, Aug 20 2002

cardboard cut-out, bris.
-- po, Aug 20 2002

Cardboard cut out of a T-37, [rfr]?
-- bristolz, Aug 20 2002

I think she means it's a cardboard cutout of forrest in front of a T-37.
-- DrCurry, Aug 20 2002

For next year's calendar it would be nice to have photos of people sitting at the computer that they 'bake' from. Cheesy perhaps, but it would good to see what people look like in situ.
-- madradish, Aug 23 2002

There's going to be a "next year's calendar"?
-- angel, Aug 23 2002

Angel: Yes there is, and it's going to be a bikini edition <tries to suppress shudder>.

That is, if there's a next year .... i.e. no more asteroids whizzing past too close for comfort (where was Bruce Willis when we needed him ?), and no Small Wars Very Far Away ......
-- 8th of 7, Aug 23 2002

I just love the way a certain sock can flash up three times in a row - have such a migraine now.

croissant for you (again)!
-- po, Nov 19 2002

Nice one Curr and Bris
-- FarmerJohn, Nov 19 2002

Thank you, Po, for submitting my pictures for me. Sometime in the next year or so I'll catch up on my workload and actually visit this place more than twice a year again... :)
-- mwburden, Nov 19 2002

[FarmerJohn]: I love the rugballet illustration.

[po]: I love your painting dancing feet.

[DrCurry]: Is there a waiting period on newly submitted photos or am I doing something wrong? I tried uploading a couple of shots and have not seen them all day.
-- XSarenkaX, Nov 19 2002

XS so concerned with resizing the thing, I omitted the credit to General Washington. Pet, DrCurry promised to put this right for me tonight.

XS less is more, do they need reducing in size? if they are small enough - you will see them.
-- po, Nov 19 2002

I worked long and hard to get the photos down to the specified size. I'll have to see if anything changes tomorrow and try again, if need be.
-- XSarenkaX, Nov 19 2002

I have my pics on it now, but for some reason it is not putting in my birthday correctly..it keeps putting it as Dec. 3rd...it is September 12th. Is that a fluke, or am I doing something incorrectly? I even tried deleting the Dec 3rd entries, and it did not work.
-- drfowler, Nov 19 2002

That is a feature, not a bug.
-- DrCurry, Mar 06 2003

just putting my vote back!
-- po, Apr 02 2005

hey, [dc] is it too late for me to add a contribution?
-- babyhawk, Aug 12 2005

Go right ahead, that's what it's there for.
-- DrCurry, Aug 12 2005

ok, there I am. And baby babyhawk is up there too. I looked around at some of the others and really enjoyed myself. Kudos to DrCurry for such a great idea and actually taking the time and effort to bake it for us too. Toast to you DrC!
-- babyhawk, Aug 12 2005

+ I've never seen this before.
-- Zimmy, Oct 30 2005

Will it have 2 spare months (called Junjust and Octembuler) for those times when you just might need them?
-- Dub, Oct 31 2005

[Whoever has recently been having problems accessing the calendar should note that the problem - a defunct link - has now been fixed.]
-- DrCurry, May 16 2006

Cool.
-- skinflaps, May 16 2006

Thank you [DrCurry] It's really nice to see some of the faces of the revered elders here. +
-- xandram, May 16 2006

[Calendar migrated to a different server. The passwords have been lost in the process, so if you need to access an old entry, please contact me and I can reset your password.]
-- DrCurry, Jan 22 2009

Hello to the good Doctor :-)
-- xenzag, Jan 22 2009

Did I miss an important memo? The calendar does not appear to be there.
-- kaz, Jul 23 2010

OH NO!!! THOSE WERE THE ONLY PICTURE OF DUSTIN I HAD LEFT :-(
-- blissmiss, Jul 24 2010

random, halfbakery
