Alternate Bathroom Answering Machine Message   (0)  [vote for, against]
So people don’t assume you’re not home just because you’re in the bathroom

Your answering machine has two outgoing messages, one of them is the normal one, the other says: “I’m powdering my nose, I’ll call you back in five minutes.”

There are wireless sensors in you bathroom that detect if the shower is going, if the tub is filled with water, or if there’s someone sitting on the toilet.

If someone calls and the machine detects that you’re in the bathroom, it plays the alternate message.

(The advanced model allows you to record several different messages to be played depending on what the bathroom sensors detect, so the out going messages could say things like: “I’m taking a 108 degree bath,” or “I appear to be constipated, I’ll call back in 45 minutes.”)

2 fries, using a jar is very frugal, but wouldn’t a bucket be easier to aim at?

I'm trying to save gas.

// My toilet is ajar. //

That's rather unsanitary, fry fry. I hope you empty it often.

Surely - your phone would need to know how many people were in the house so as to calculate whether someone was available to answer the phone. Also, if you have more than one toilet, they would need to be networked.

And yours aren't already?

Seems like just an alternate usage of one of [8th of 7]'s early ideas. See link. Main difference is his is oriented to workers using cellular phones, yours is for homes with land lines.

Angel - I live in an old 19th c. house, the bathrooms were installed before the USB toilet was invented.

It shouldn’t surprise me that this idea is redundant. I prefer 8th of 7th's version since it gives the caller the option of leaving a message or proceeding with the call. “Press 1 to leave a message. Press 2 to talk to me as I poop.”

...If you are the kind of person who likes to watch others in the bathroom, please enter your credit card number after the beep. You won't get the picture, but all the sound, close up. Only $5 for the first 10 minutes.<beep>...
