Amateur Sports Commentary   (+2, -3)  [vote for, against]
Bad Sportsmen on TV

OK! - I'm abit new to this but I WANT this idea to work.. What if your Golf Society (in our case), Rugby/football/cricket Club could have a professional commentary team with all the associated camera work & coaches/caddies to do the number on a fixture.

For example, Peter Alliss & Alex Haigh :

...Thanks Alex, we're at the 14th with Barry Owen, he has just 150 Yards to the pin with a 8 mph following wind and for some reason he looks to have a 5 Iron in his hand...

..{fade to next shot},, well he's played the 5 iron, he has 135 Yards to go and he still has the 5 iron....

You get the picture?

I think you would need some channel 4 Gameshow to pick this up with various Sports Societies competing for the prize (The day out with commentary) but wouldn't it be a hoot? What with the plethora of cheap Public oriented TV at the moment it must be a winner!

I'm sure it's already in the pipeline on Sky.

... He takes a practice swing, and another, and another...

"Dude check THAT out"
"Whoa"
"You think they're real?"
"Who cares"
"Dayum"
"Fuckin' A, man"

alx is probably right about Sky. After all, they've already baked UnaBubba's idea for having amateurs do the commentary (they have alternative commentaries available on the football coverage, done by a fan from either side. It is, of course, total crap!).

Rather the opposite, in fact.

Great link. I'd be proud to have that as my homepage but sadly, it's nothing to do with me.
