Anti-theft Thermos   (+1)  [vote for, against]
To keep people from stealing your food at work.

Put simply, a thermos with a combination lock. The way I envision this is to have a collar around the lid, and you have to turn the collar in the right combination to unlock the lid. This idea is posted in response to an alarming number of complaints from employees lately about going to the breakroom to find their lunch missing from the refrigerator.

I don't know if this is baked or not... I did a google search for "anti-theft thermos" and "locking thermos" and didn't find anything like this. There are lots of "locking" ones, but the term locking just means it clamps shut securely to keep the stuff inside from spilling out. Anyone can open it.

Note: After further searching the HB, I see this is possibly redundant with "lockable bottle" but there's quite a difference in the mechanism used, so I think it still stands on its own.

How did that come up, angel? It doesn't say anywhere that it locks! I don't understand Google sometimes....

The cup that fits on top could double up as the combination wheel, with numbers printed around its perimeter .... time for coffee - so that's left 21, right 36, left 72, right 5.... or was it? Bashes thermos against wall in frustration +

Or, find out who is so hungry that they steal a thermos. Could it be that the cleaning lady is that hungry?

Do people at hi-tech offices talk to the cleaning lady, or are they like the dwarves in the lifes2short movie?

Or just pee in your Thermos. You will probably only need to do it once. But it's quite important that you remember you've done it.

Spoken from experience, Max?

Yes, I'm afraid I've peed in your Thermos from time to time.

[angel]'s link flagged for removal - it's a generic thermos patent and doesn't even contain the word "lock" or derivatives. seriously wtf.

[+] the idea if for nothing else the visual of a combination lock as a Thermos cork... granted [A0]'s idea is similar in respect of being a bottle with a keylock.

Or rather more hygienically, fill the thermos flask with liquid nitrogen.
