Now that you say it, I'm amazed these don't already exist.

An additional benefit is that the bits of clay punched out of the centre of the bagel plate could be shaped, glazed, and fired to make tiny plates just right for tiny buns made from the dough punched out of the centre of the bagels.

Or they could be folded in half around a small piece of tender schist and baked to produce Ginster's Pasties.

That wouldn't fool anyone - the flavour and texture would be too pleasant.

Needs to be Donut plates as well. They would be slightly fancier to reflect that donuts are a dessert.

This needs to be expanded upon.

Whole meals laid out with tightly conforming custom plates. Chicken dinner would come on a drumstick shaped plate, a wing shaped plate and a breast plate. The potato, bread stick etc all on their own custom shaped plates. It would be like having dinner at Salvador Dali's house.

The salad would probably need to be on one solid piece though. Rice dishes on 500 little plates wouldn't work out too well either.

// dinner at Salvador Dali's house. //

Not a good experience, as nobody knows what time the food will be ready since all the clocks have melted, the elephant in the room has ridiculously long legs, and the lobster keeps ringing off the hook.

And if he's invited Hieronymus Bosch round, then things get really weird ...

// if he's invited Hieronymus Bosch round, then things get really weird// Quite. The Intercalary was quite put out, last year, by being used as a vase.

It was certainly an innovative location for a bunch of tulips. At least it wasn't roses ... those thorns ...

I went to a deli in El Salvador once. The service timeliness was about what you'd expect.

//I went to a deli in El Salvador once// As you do. Coincidentally, I've had a salad in a doorway in Delhi.

"DADDY, I NEED SALVE FOR MY DORA DOLLY!"
"You don't need to scream, dearie."
"Sorry, my memory is not very persistent today."
"Look in the bathroom cabinet, near that head of roses..."

I suppose polo mints started this trend.

I was going to suggest something suitable for serving a Continental breakfast, but further research revealed that the term ‘Continental Plates’ is already spoken for.
-- AusCan531, Jan 03 2019

// ‘Continental Plates’ is already spoken for. //

Probably a good thing, the food would most likely be much too crusty for most consumers ...

// tiny plates just right for tiny buns made from the dough punched out of the centre of the bagels. //

Keeping true to form, the punched out dough bits should be fashioned into smaller bagels, each on their own smaller Bagel Plate, with the successively smaller punched out bits fashioned into still smaller bagels, on their own tiny Bagel Plates, and... +
