Basements for Trailers   (+2, -1)  [vote for, against]
Park each trailer over a simple concrete bunker

A trailer park could offer a simple concrete bunker for each lot over which you would park the trailer. Either make a hatch down through the floor or through a small above-ground vestibule that would also connect to the normal trailer door. Use it for storage most of the time, but use it to hide in when it gets a little too windy.

Let the trailer blow away but stay alive.

Garbage can tornado shelter. How to keep the lid down? [popbottle, May 27 2013]

Can you take the basement with you when you move your trailer ?

[8th of 7] Can you take the basement with you...

Nope. And you wouldn't want to. The concrete remains the problem of the park owner, who can charge more for lots with basement storage.

// Foundations for trailers are commonplace, aren't they //

You mean as in Foundation, Foundation and Empire, Second Foundation ?

[waugsqueke] Foundations for trailers are commonplace, aren't they?

I suspect there are concrete platforms on which they rest, but I haven't heard of basements.

But it doesn't blow away, usually. More often, it turns into a pile of toothpicks, some of which are scattered, and none of which I particularly want to be under when she blows.

[RayfordSteele] "it turns into a pile of toothpicks"

Yes, which is terrible for any people inside. But the residents, if they had even a minute's warning, would by then be underground with nothing a tornado can grab except the trailer and vestibule, which is all on the other side of a concrete roof and thick hatchway.

Now guys, everyone knows trailer parks attract tor- nados. The trick in avoiding twisters, is deception.

With the proper use of camouflage, a whole trailer park compound will escape destruction using 'Trompe 'L Oile, (French term, meaning 'Fool the eye.) By disguisingthe compound as, say, Saddam Hassam or Osama Bin Ladden, it'll avoid detection for decades.

By the way, those two towel headed buggers, (Look it up) managed to frighten and terrify a whole country (France), causing it's entire male population to 'Besoil' themselves.

sp. trompe l'oeil (I think!) wish I could pronounce the last ruddy word though.

I like this idea. +1 belated vote

Why not build walls and a roof over the basement and you could rent it to people who don't have trailers?
