Big Ventriliquist Dummy   (+1)  [vote for, against]
Ventriliquist sits on the dummy's lap for a role reversal thingy

Adds up to 10% more mirth due to the novelty of it all.

And if that doesn't floor you, how about just swapping the role of who's the straight man? Have the little dummy be the straight man and the ventriloquist be the smartass.

They've been doing this crap for 100 years, nobody's ever thought of those two twists before?

Chuck and Bob ventriloquist mind reading act http://www.youtube....watch?v=DwDbd4jQpkA
...still don't know how they did it... [not_morrison_rm, Oct 27 2014]

I'm pretty sure the first one has been done, but maybe not.

As for the second, many ventriloquists already do that.

Probably. I'm admittedly not up on the state of the art.

Really? A straight man dummy you say? Hmm. (Interest in subject fading... fading... aaaaaand it's gone.)

and then they develop AI's to help comics that aren't funny, and eventually either the human dies and nobody notices, or

"Let's see how You like it, Human !!!"
-- FlyingToaster, Oct 27 2014

How about this? The comedian comes out with a ventriloquist dummy, takes a drink of water and then after a carefully timed long uncomfortable pause, throws the dummy to the ground and stomps it into little pieces then saying "I hate ventriloquist acts."

I think everybody would be so relieved that it's not a ventriloquist act it would be a great way to break the ice. Instant bonding with the audience.

Yea, sort of a twist on that.
-- doctorremulac3, Oct 27 2014

There seems to be a certain amount of feeling that ventriloquists should be grouped with mimes as targets for opprobium …

If ventriloquist and dummy are gay, then neither is the straight man. Would limit material and venue, but...

...lap joke in 3, 2... ahh forget it.
