Computer: Mouse: Side Effect
Busy mouse   (-2)  [vote for, against]
makes like you're busy

In the olden days the clattering of a typewriter told the household or office there was someone busy.

Now, when you're "word processing" nobody knows whether you're asleep or working.

So even though there are 24 other kinds of mice listed, I offer the busy mouse, which chimes every time you click it, or clatters a few typewriter key-sounds - through the speakers probably, volume adjustable.

I used to have some software that made the keyboard clack but it merely let the household know how painfully slow my keyboarding was.

At my old job I shared a room with a person who spent his entire day scrolling through documents with the world's loudest thumbwheel. K-k-k-k-k-k-k-k-k-klick all day. This is not a good idea. Better to make all legitimate workers utterly silent.

Recently we ran a test of a product we're working on that involved a 12 people sitting in a room navigating their way around a web site. These people were very quiet whilst they were doing this, as they did'nt know each other, and few spoke the same language. The weird thing was the amount of noise generated by standard mouse clicking. It was a regular cacophony. It could probably be used by nasty secret police to torture someone.

"Tell us were the rebels are or its another hour in the library computer suite for you!"
