Cablegram   (+4, -2)  [vote for, against]
Your own message on someone's TV

Looking for a fun party gimmick or for a special way to tell someone you care?

This service would allow you to upload video to be shown to a specific subscriber, instead of an ad or a program

Features would include time of day, channel, show and of course parental control, so that X-rated messages would only flow through an X-rated channel

Cable is broadcast, not narrowcast.

//Cable is broadcast, not narrowcast// It is? So what is video-on-demand?

Magic.

I'm pretty certain cable is addressable these days, to some fairly large degree. Croissant.

Some cable companies can already tailor specific ads and barkers to individual customers, so this isn't too far-fetched.

Jinbish, not even close to magic, otherwise you couldn't get OnDemand and a package that is specific to you.

Penn & Teller had a gimmic that worked this way; A video of commercials is started, unbeknownst to your guests. At a queued point you demonstrate your powers by compressing and stretching the picture. I can think of many uses for this service, mostly humorous, some evil. +

(cable is addressable, btw)
