Halfbakery: Meeting
Chilly Con Carney (NYC)   (+2)  [vote for, against]
NYC halfcon

Halfbakery mini rally, New York City:

Saturday, March 10
3:00 pm on
Temple of Dendur
Metropolitan Museum of Art

(At some point, we will likely decamp to some place we can make more noise and get some refreshments, so anyone likely to arrive late should email me for my cell phone.)

We'll probably have a Halfbakery t-shirt or two lying around for identification, or else look for the bald guy with glasses. (See link.)

John Carney will be there? http://www.nfl.com/...ers/playerpage/1400
I watched this guy win a football game by kicking the only scores we got that day - six field goals (American football). [normzone, Feb 28 2007, last modified Mar 05 2007]

I just saw flights in the STA travel window for £195 return, NYC - Glasgow.

If only I had a spare £200 and I wasn't going to be in disposed, I'd love to join in.
-- Jinbish, Feb 05 2007

in disposed. where's that?
-- po, Feb 05 2007

Nope, can't make this one I'll be in Seville, however find a public webcam and I'll be able to watch you all jitter.
-- skinflaps, Feb 06 2007

Can't. Doubt if I'll more than 25 miles from home before at least the start of May.
-- reensure, Feb 06 2007

So, um, you've got one of those house arrest ankle bracelets?
-- DrCurry, Feb 07 2007

Well, we appear to have four or five interested parties, including those flying in just for the event, but in the marked absence of preferences, by executive fiat, the Chilly Con will be Saturday afternoon, March 10, 3:00-5:00 pm. Venue still to be agreed upon, but somewhere central.
-- DrCurry, Feb 28 2007

Love the title.
-- MoreCowbell, Feb 28 2007

I almost didn't open this idea because the title meant so little to me. But wow, you're meeting in my neck of the woods - it is tempting. Please post further details when you've picked a place!
-- phundug, Feb 28 2007

So we're having halfbakery rallys now? Sounds sinister.
-- hidden truths, Feb 28 2007

Pitchforks and burning torches are optional.
-- DrCurry, Mar 01 2007

//but somewhere central//

Does such a place exisit in the NYC metro area?
-- jhomrighaus, Mar 01 2007

After some discussion, it was decided that the Temple of Dendur at the Metropolitan Museum of Art is an apt site for a Halfbakery confab. (And the Met's pricing policy - posted amounts are optional - means you can get in for a quarter, if you're not brimming with cash.)

So, be there, next Saturday at 3pm. Or not.

P.S. for jhomrighaus - the museum is located in Central Park, so, um, yeah, I guess that's pretty central.
-- DrCurry, Mar 04 2007

Damn! I can't make it. It's a friend's brithday that day so I'll have to remain on the other side of the Atlantic.
-- Jinbish, Mar 04 2007

We could do a satellite link-up, but I don't think they allow satellites in the museum.
-- DrCurry, Mar 05 2007

Do you need to be a brit to have a brithday? Wonderful image, [DrCurry].
-- normzone, Mar 05 2007

Strewth. I should be ejected from the Halfbakery on the grounds of having passed my 'typo quota', or shunned because of my lack of proofreading.
-- Jinbish, Mar 05 2007

Actually, if you don't do one once in a while we become concerned.
-- normzone, Mar 06 2007

I'm starting to think about coming down, if I can just convince my s/o!
-- xandram, Mar 07 2007

[P.S. for jhomrighaus - the museum is located in Central Park, so, um, yeah, I guess that's pretty central]

Well if you are in Manhattan it is but from Staten Island, or Brooklyn it is a bit of a haul to get over there, that of course depends on the time of day.

Is there anywhere to park around there?

If I came I would be coming from out of town and would need to find parking somewhere in the vicinity.
-- jhomrighaus, Mar 07 2007

Unfortunately, the closest good parking is in Staten Island.
-- pigtails_and_ponies, Mar 08 2007

...or Brooklyn.
-- methinksnot, Mar 08 2007

Well he couldn't say no, as it is my birthday and I have recently been talking about going to the Met.
So, hopefully see you all there.
ps- Jas- I owe you a drink!
-- xandram, Mar 08 2007

We are thinking hard about coming, just have to see if my daughter is feeling better by the weekend(shes got the throw ups going on right now)!
-- jhomrighaus, Mar 08 2007

xandram: cool, that makes two birthdays to celebrate!
-- DrCurry, Mar 08 2007

So, this is a Multiply by Half con?
-- xandram, Mar 09 2007

Same thing, really.
-- DrCurry, Mar 09 2007

Hotel reservations made, Will see you there on Saturday!

(a collective shudder rolls through the bakery)
-- jhomrighaus, Mar 09 2007

-- DrCurry, Mar 11 2007

-- xandram, Mar 11 2007
