Clip-on crossguard   (+3)  [vote for, against]
In case of emergency

One of the main differences between combat knives and domestic knives is that domestic knives lack a crossguard - a section where the blade joins the hilt which projects out on each side.

The crossguard performs three functions:

1. It allows the user to "parry" another blade.

2. It stops the knife becoming too deeply embedded in the target.

3. It prevents the hand slipping forward onto the blade during a thrusting or stabbing action, allowing more force to be delivered and stopping the user's hand being cut.

The third function is of major importance. If a sucessful blow has been delivered, this hopefully results in vigorous exsanguination (unless the heart muscle has been penetrated), covering the hand of the user and the hilt of the knife with fresh, warm blood, and rendering them irritatingly slippery. Fortunately, the blade tends to plug the wound to some extent until it starts to be withdrawn. However, the delivery of subsequent blows, to "make sure", risks injury.

The BorgCo Clip-On Crossguard allows most domestic knives to be instantly converted to a much more effective weapon. Slide the blade through the guard, and hinge over the retaining clip so that it grips the handle.

Remember Rule Nine ! Never be caught without an effective edged weapon to hand ever again !

Comes in both high-impact plastic, stainless steel , and (for traditionalists, special order only) optionally wood, precious or semi-precious metals, ivory or antler.

So when you're cutting into your breakfast sausages and somebody gets lippy you just slip one of these babies on to show 'em you mean business?

Sure, why not? [+]

So, [8th], just how many times have you, in actual fact, stabbed what might be called a person? Or threatened same with a knife?
-- MaxwellBuchanan, May 19 2016

Threats ? Threats are for amateurs. Do... or do not.

Actual contact ? Three, but one if those was accidental, and none were fatal.

So, that would be two non-fatal stabbings, then. Who'd've thought Jehova's Witnesses would be so persistent?

Just one JW, actually. Who'd have thought he'd be stupid enough to come back for more ?
