Compass Pyjamas   (+7, -4)  [vote for, against]
Pyjamas that make you point north as you sleep

I think I read somewhere that it's much healthier to always point North when you sleep. This is achievable when at home, as it is possible, with a little bit of effort, to swivel your bed around, but what about when you are in unfamiliar surroundings?

Having a compass is clearly not enough, because you can always twist out of alignment in the middle of the night, so what you you need are magnetised Compass Pyjamas that will always try to point North. As you sleep and move around, your Compass Pyjamas will exert a subtle effect on your movements that should leave you pointing in a North- South axis by morning, thus infusing you with the full benefits of such an alignment.

Revolving Clock Bed Revolving_20clock_20bed
Similar revolving-while-sleeping idea [hippo, Nov 09 2005]

Why not put your bed on a swivel stand?

"xenzag awoke confused and choking, a painful constriction around his neck and groin. His pyjamas were pointing north, while his body was pointing south."

(snickers at the idea of pyjamas with pointy bits)
-- Cedar Park, Nov 08 2005

See, now in a pool on an air mattress this could work.

Also good for those Second Coming moments - isn't that why all bodies are buried facing one way in churchyards? I think it's east for Christianity and West for Muslim, but I may well be wrong.

Thanks Miasere - validates my pyjama modification!

I would like to know why it is good to sleep pointing North. Still, bun for the idea.
-- Pericles, Nov 10 2005

which bit of you is meant to point north?

I think its my nose.
-- po, Nov 10 2005

Well, I guess you and Pericles don't have the option we do.
-- DrCurry, Nov 10 2005

whatever do you mean?
-- po, Nov 10 2005

I'd demonstrate, but I'd probably get thrown out.
-- DrCurry, Nov 10 2005

oh, DrC, always so creative. ;)
-- Pericles, Nov 10 2005

Surely that would involve having to sleep standing up?
