Customizable Whitewall tire   (0)  [vote for, against]
A tire with blank sidewalls, that comes with a D.I.Y. whitewall grinding kit

In whitewall tire construction, a wide band of white rubber is placed underneath the outer layer of black rubber. These two layers carry no weight and hold no air. They are a facade, covering the integral parts of the tire; plies, belts, liner, chafer, bead, etc. Then the whole "green" tire is pressed into a mold and cured with heat. The mold leaves the tread design on the outer circumference, as well as any lettering, beauty rings, safety and load warnings, etc. on the sidewall. Still all covered with the outer black rubber skin. Then the black rubber is buffed away, in the prescribed areas, to reveal the white rubber. I propose a smooth sidewalled tire with no lettering, bands, and such, with exceptions for any legality such as small safety warnings, with outer black rubber skin fully intact. To be sold with a kit, including; grinding stone drill attachment with grind depth protection guard, letter stencils, tire marking grease pen, etc. To design and grind out your own personalized white sidewalls. Example: 1. Teenage kid in muscle car, with flame design on tires. 2.Fleet van or truck with business name, logo, phone number on tires. 3. Playa from da hood with super wide gangsta whitewalls 4. Why not... http://www.petepaul...es/PTSmoothieWW.jpg
just take a regular white wall tire, put a suitable stencil on it, and spray paint it with your custom design? [DrCurry, Oct 17 2004]

I bet Nike and other shoe manufacturers could come up with a lot wild designs.

Given that grinders are moderately difficult to handle, couldn't you just provide the customization as a service? Or see link.

The mind reels with visions of 'Bake Me' spinning at high revolutions down the street. (+)

Expensive to correct spelling errors, though.
