Designer vacuum   (+3)  [vote for, against]
Nothing could be better ...

There is clearly no upper limit to the stupidity, cupidity and credulity of humans, and here at BorgCo we see no reason to let an opportunity like that go to waste.

So now we have pleasure in revealing our latest product; "designer vacuum".

Now, you can be the proud owner of your very own container of artisan vacuum. The customer can choose the container - a reproduction bronze flask from Mycenae, a hand-blown glass sphere, a hand- forged and hot-rivited wrought iron cylinder. Choose the pump - from an original Magdeburg brass pump, to a mercury-column exhauster, or a rotary-vane pump driven by a real Newcomen engine for that genuine 18th Century vacuum feel.

Prices start from USD $1,099, plus shipping and tax.

Are refills available?
-- MaxwellBuchanan, Nov 02 2014

But can the design include a void of the EM field?
-- wjt, Nov 02 2014

No, but that's available* for a relatively small extra charge.

*Space vacuum may contain trace amounts of interstellar gas. Please check with your medical practitioner to confim that interstellar vacuum is right for you before purchasing.

A void E-M field can be provided free opf charge, but depends on your location.

Sorry, no refills or refunds. You have to purchase a new unit of vacuum.

Can the container be recycled when empty?
-- MaxwellBuchanan, Nov 02 2014

My limited edition vacuuum has an extra u.

I purchased a flask of vacuum from a street vendor who assured me it was of the finest quality. Alas, it left me feeling empty inside. What assurance do we have that YOUR vacuum is any better?
-- Grogster, Nov 03 2014

The street vendor's assurance was clearly an empty promise.
-- MaxwellBuchanan, Nov 03 2014

// Can the container be recycled when empty? //

No, the idea is that you collect them and keep them as mementoes.

// What assurance do we have that YOUR vacuum is any better? //

Numerous paid endorsements from actors, minor celebrities, and dubious political figures. And a very nice glossy brochure, a very pretty website, and an extremely prestigeous headquarters building.

Is better vacuum achieved by having an absence of better stuff? If so I think you're onto something. I feel so much classier now that I'm not wearing a Rolex rather than not wearing a Casio.
-- bs0u0155, Nov 03 2014

Pah! I don't have a genuine 18th century pocket watch!
-- pocmloc, Nov 03 2014

pah! I don't even own a Harrison H4 marine chronometer, let alone carry it with me.
-- bs0u0155, Nov 03 2014

But is it lighter than air?
-- pashute, Nov 04 2014

Not just lighter than air - lighter than Hydrogen !

So, neither a Dyson sphere nor a Dyson ball then?
-- RayfordSteele, Nov 04 2014

I have other people deal with such matters. Would you be able to fashion one that is incredibly practical but deceptively obscure to function? I'd like to think that when my butler passes I would want to experience the full incapacity of not even being able to vacuum.
-- lostmind, Nov 05 2014

I think your idea is cute, but should be titled *Custom Made Vacuum Cleaners* as //designer vacuum cleaners// already exist. [see link] Bun for cuteness. +
