Dinner Spatula   (+3)  [vote for, against]
Small silicone sauce scraper.

This is simply a minature rubber scraper that complements the spoon at the dinner table when the main course is a particularly saucy affair. After finishing the chunky component of the entree, one assimilates the residual sauce with the spatula. Naturally, licking the spatula itself is considered improper, so the spoon is used to lift the resulting mound of sauce to the mouth.

//Sliced bread is probably a better invention for this.//

Agreed. NOT, however, a croissant.

Some sort of rubber-coated silver squeegee might be in order.

That image could really use a scale bar.

Anyways, the spatula must also look like it belongs at the dinner table; a wooden handle with a hole in the end won't do.

A medium-soft, curved spatula with a metal handle sounds like a nice piece of tableware. If everyone has one, you could skip the spoon.

[Cuit au Four] A couple of these modifications and you get buns.

I have a loverly brushed-metal-handled spatula in my kitchen. I forget where I got it.

Automated plate wipers, using tried-and-tested windscreen wiper technology, would do the job.
