Dinnerware tearoffs   (+7)  [vote for, against]
Quick and easy cleaning for lazy eaters!

Auto racing teams have been using tear off membranes on windshields for decades to allow for rapid cleaning of the windscreen without scrubbing etc.

Now this same technology comes to the aid of college students, campers, couch potatoes and anyone else that is in a hurry to clean up or away from the normal facilities.

The films are stacked in alternating layers with small tabs arrayed about the perimeter of the plate. This gives you ready access to the tabs while also giving you a a quick indication of the number of remaining films.

When your meal is done you simply tear off the dirty film and your plate is ready for the next meal. No fuss no muss!

It's a good idea, but //college students ... clean up // suggests a woeful lack of familiarity with the domestic habits of (male) college students ...

What happens to the tear off film, which is presumably made from plastic, and being now contaminated with food waste cannot be recycled?

Surely it would be better to have a horizontally-mounted fan integrated into your table and serve all your food suspended on the updraft of air? Looks cool, and no washing up.

Tear off film could be made of biodegradable cellulose, put in compost along with food waste.

Less effort; no need to get a new plate out of the packet.

// What happens to the tear off film //

Burn it. Next question ?

The Tear off would be made of biodegradable Landfill friendly plastic.

... but that will still burn nicely, right ?

They said it was supposed to be funny, but with enough perseverence it was possible to make an earnest version...
