Disposable Rented Bowling Shoe Socks   (0)  [vote for, against]
Disposable socks for, ummm, rented bowling shoes...

So anyhow if you're very lucky they'll spray out those rented bowling shoes with a little bit of Lysol or some knockoff. Ick. Need I continue? Make the socks out of that papery-clothy material they make disposable clean suits out of. Elastic at the ankle keeps them from slipping inside the shoe. 3 sizes available.

*Just occured to me, why stop at bowling shoes? Skates and other rented footwear could benefit as well.

I read this as bowling shoe shocks. Striking idea? Spare me.

right up my alley.
-- jonthegeologist, Jan 30 2004

At a local bowling alley in Amarillo, tx. They give you a pair of socks when you get your shoes. I guess they buy them in bulk and then just figure it is worth the expense. But they literally just give them to you. So they are disposable to the bowling alley but are real good socks for the person that got them. (I think they may have raised the shoe rental price up one dollar to compensate for the socks.)

"Honey, I need some new socks. I'm gonnna run down to the bowling alley..."
-- k_sra, Jan 30 2004

Big fungus-free croissant for you. This is one of the main reasons I don't bowl more often.

"It is generally considered bad form to delete someone's anno's just because they point out a flaw in your idea. If they do not pertain to the idea, or are off topic then you are within your right, but do not delete my anno's when they are on-topic."

Is it bad form to just rip on someone's idea without explanation?
-- Size_Mick, Jan 30 2004

What was the "rip" I'm interested now...
-- silverstormer, Jan 30 2004

yes yes do tell . by the by , i've seen these in walmart style stores in tissue boxes for when you try on shoes and don't have any socks . I took a pocketful cuz i thought they'd be useful.
-- slapdash loser, Jan 30 2004

I brought up what I felt was a valid flaw and the poster saw fit to erase it to discourage others from seeing the flaw. So be it.

No, what you did was bring up some irrelevant comment on how the papery clothy stuff would turn shoes into a human bacteria fest, without giving any reason why you think this might be. And you put it in a pretty negative tone. Are you Mr. Authority on different types of papery-clothy material and their potential uses as disposable garments? No? Then what's your point?

Just use your spare socks.

-- Letsbuildafort, Feb 02 2004

Just gimme a link!
-- gnomethang, Feb 02 2004

There ya go, [gnome], enjoy ... zoom in/out for a better idea of where its at ...
-- Letsbuildafort, Feb 02 2004

Coo, Ta Mister!
-- gnomethang, Feb 02 2004

Wait a minute!, where are the armadillos?. I couldn't even see them on tightest zoom.
-- gnomethang, Feb 02 2004

Armadillos are mostly nocturnal ... and are usually equipped with stealth-fighter technology - and nunchucks. So don't try to get too close either.
-- Letsbuildafort, Feb 02 2004

[Lbaf], armidillos are our friends (and are useful for carrying extra socks... see [link])
-- k_sra, Feb 02 2004

Hrrmmm ... hard to argue with the handbag ...
-- Letsbuildafort, Feb 02 2004

Ahem!. [k_sra], that armadillo wouldn't be a GM product would it?
-- gnomethang, Feb 02 2004

No, but it is part of the G D Product...
-- k_sra, Feb 02 2004

This, and blisters, is why you wear thick socks to bowl, skate, or whatever in rented shoes. Sorry, but I would rather wear my own socks and then go home and wash them then have to worry about some prankster stealing them and leaving me in paper thin soack that could rip, in my converse, thanks but no thanks. To put it bluntly, THOU HAST JUST GOTTEN FISH BONED!
-- The Dark Lord Chuckles the Silly Piggy, Feb 28 2004

You could still wear your own socks, the paper ones could be worn over them. It's not a big deal. As far as a bacterial bath or whatever, I mean, do you plan on bowling for like 9 hours straight or something?? I'm still pretty certain that wearing these is a better idea than not wearing these. How much do you trust the patrons and employees of your local bowling establishment, anyhow?
