Documentary about Documentors   (0)  [vote for, against]
A triangle of cameramen itching their groins

"Who are these documentors? Why do they blah blah..." The people who make this documentary would be the subject, i.e. it's about themselves making the documentary about themselves.

The climax would be when the camera zooms in on a TV screen that's displaying the video-out of that camera, resulting in an entrancing visual feedback loop. A little like those new adventures of Jonny Quest.

[CrumbsDM] i was thinking more along the lines of recording the documentors Making that very documentary. like present tense verbing. so a shot of Attenborough writing the day's "to document" list, & the first thing on it is "document Attenborough writing the to document list." it'd all be redundantly self-referential. or, in a word, "Beautiful." maybe a scene with the audio cutting in & out, & during the in you can hear: "man: i didn't touch anyth- " kkrkrkhh.....krhh-"you're the fucking audio wizard, why would I hav-" dkakdrkk.

Recursive doc title (nth generation): "Behind the Scenes of Behind the Scenes of Behind the Scenes of Behind the Scenes of Behind the Scenes of Behind the Scenes of Behind the Scenes of Behind the Scenes of etc."

The Gary Shandling show?

And now it's time for a Douglas Adams moment:

"The human race is currently sitting around a rock on the other side of this hill making documentaries about themselves..."

That 8-ball link is interesting in that it cites, and has a link to, the "world master of 8 ball technology and culture." I had to laugh when I noticed who this 8-ball world master is . . . .

Pretty soon, most people will have video capability in their PDAs and mobile phones, and we'll all go round making fly-on-the-wall documentaries about our lives all day, every day ..........

i think thats what the future'll be like, 8th of 7. Computer assisted memory able to pull up the video/audio of an experience (at x date & time)... it's weird to think that that'll be a reality for someone someday.

[waugsqueke]: read my earlier annotation. I re-emphasize: "present tense verbing."

what about some documentors making a documentry about another group of documentors making a documentry about the first documentors? "Ok now pete is pointing his camera at me so I'm going to film him filming me" "Ohhh an interesting turn of events Barry is filming me filming him"
-- Gulherme, Nov 20 2002

I think that r_r specifically means that the subjects of the documentary will be the documentors themselves.. at the same time..

Not sure how it would get started, though.
