Dryer marker   (+1, -1)  [vote for, against]
Marker that comes off in the dryer.

Markers which wash off in a washing machine, and markers that don't wash off at all, are readily available. What I'm looking for is a marker whose ink is water resistant, but very heat soluble. This way, laundry with special drying instructions (ie line-dry rather than putting in the machine.) could be marked clearly as such so that the non-laundry adept would know better that to put them in the dryer with everything else.

This would porbably be made out of natural inks, too, as certain organic materials can be found which display these properties (water resistance, low heat threshhold).

If you mark things that are not to be put in the dryer, how do you get rid of the mark afterward? Or if you mark things that DO go in the dryer, won't the mark disappear? In which case, it might be better to put it on something like, say, a tag? <grin>

Actually a crayon will melt into the fabric and NEVER let go.

Po, that's kind of what I had in mind...The only real use for this I can see is for marking things for other people. "Anything with an H on it is to be washed in hot water, anything with a D is not to be put in the dryer, and your microwave dinners are in the freezer. Try not to burn the house down before I get home."
