Electric Backpack KangaBike   (+1, -1)  [vote for, against]
press the button, inflate it, jump backwards land on it and get going

[Edited. See illustration in second link]

The KangaBike is an inflatable half of an exercise ball with two (or three) small wheels at the external side (later to become the bottom of the vehicle) one of which is with a hub motor in it.

You wear a harness connected to a backpack. The backpack holds the battery, the inflating pump and the kanga bike.

You pull the cord and the hub wheel motor works on the air pump, inflating the whole thing. Once it reaches the correct pressure, the wheel releases the inflation tube, and can now serve as the vehicle wheel and its motor too. It is a low riding scooter, but rather than sitting down you jump up, and fall in a sitting position, the kanga bike bounces once or twice and then the fun starts. Either bounce around like a regular exercise ball or start the motor and Go Go Go!

[+] but isn't there a version of a rocking horse that does this ?
-- FlyingToaster, Mar 02 2011

A rocking horse with wheels? Works as an electric scooter? Fun to jump up and down on.

Mechanical; no motor.

Fixed wheels on the legs and a bend in the middle of the body. When there's no weight on it, the wheels can rotate freely. When somebody sits down on it a pawl & ratchet on each wheel come into play, locking them into forward-only mode.

On the downbounce the front wheels splay forward while the rear wheels remain where they are. Then on the upbounce the front wheels stay still while the rear wheels catch up.

Ahh... <link>

Ok. Thats a starter but the electric one folds by deflating is more comfortable because of the air cussion and will become the vehicle of choice for the next generation of yuppies: no sweating like on a bike but no cramps like riding in a car. And fun.

I still think this is a fun idea. How do I get an illustration or pictures onto HB?
