Fan with pattern recognition   (+4, -1)  [vote for, against]

As the summer regrettably is with us out here, I propose an electric fan, with a camera and basic pattern recognition.

Patterns to be recognised are

1) Someone with lots of small pieces of paper in their hand

2) documents on a table/desk

3) anyone attempting to roll a cigarette (ie me), at the sight of these, the fan uses an emergency brake to halt. And beeps a bit.

Optional air-compressor and long moveable tube ensures that the mosquito almost, but not quite, gets to bite you, before is is blown away from you by a jet of air..

So it's like:

“Boy, da Bears really stink dis year.”

“Yeah, dey stunk las’ year too, an’ da year before dat weren't so hot neither.”

“Guess dat's just what dey do, dey stink.”

“Yep, buncha goddamn mooks dose Bears.”

LEAVE MY BEARS ALONE, [ytk], they don't need your help. If you don't, I'll turn my fan on you.

As for the idea, I like the thought of this, I like the feel of this, I would like to have this, a lot. I also don't like it when the fan is on, and it blows over my hot pizza making it cold too quickly. So pizza I.D. would be crucial.

+ yes good, although I thought it would be funnier if the fan accelerated when it saw 1, 2 or 3!! Haha, I'm just a sadist...

Detroit has been trying to figure out this technology for at least since 1957, when the Lions last won anything. So far, the only pattern they've found is 'wait 'til next year...'

//Er.....no//

Sorry, just read the title & couldn't resist.

So robot fans then that now to blow & not to blow, nifty [+].

At the very least its a 'cool' new toy for the hackers to try & get into, [bigy]'s already started.

I think [biggy sleeps] left out some punctuation:

//it was a reference to a, well, “known” hb idea.//
-- ytk, Jul 12 2014

psh its called a computer
-- HitsMiss, Jul 12 2014

I am now more confused...a "well-known" idea, and a d a stage whisper "psh its called a computer".

Anyway, reading Tim Power's Declare, kind of British 1960's spy story, was doing ok until we got to "sidewalk"..tch, American authors...

I refer you to Exhibit A, The Pavement, Clapham. Linky.

Good god, never knew there was an Armenian surname of Mamelian....so were I blessed I could say "I am Mamelian, and so are most of my relatives".

The fun we miss with all the boring old British surnames.
