3 Way fish tank

Have you ever looked in a fish tank? If so you might have noticed that if you look sideways through the glass it makes a mirror.

Well here is my idea -------- I want to make a triangular fish tank that is built into the wall of my house. It would be a isosceles right triangle. One side would face the bed room (45 degrees), bath room (90 degrees), and living room (45 degrees). The water depth would be higher than the wall holes height in the bed room and living room .This way no rooms could see the others. If this idea works right the mirror effect would cause the tank to appear much larger than life (another bonus).

Other stuff. ------ I know the larger (90 degree) side should be towards the living room but this makes it stick into the bathroom. This way all of the pumps, food, nets, and stuff are out of site.

Marine Life Double Glazing http://www.halfbake..._20double_20glazing
A similar idea - actually very similar to [Florida]'s idea. See the excellent links by [gnormal] too. [hippo, Oct 05 2004]

Just the very basics, but if you want to keep ANY animal you have an obligation to provide with correct care and feeding. [squeak, Oct 05 2004, last modified Oct 21 2004]

I suppose it all depends on the refractive indices of water and the glass you're using, the reflectivity of the glass-water interface plus the lighting in the tank

Croissant (+)

But personally, I'd rather have a panel fishtank-ecosphere replacing my double-glazing. Great if you have a boring view out of your window, but still need natural light.

"FloridaManatee" No the trick is to combine three inside (non-load bearing) walls. you still have all of your outside windows for the view. It would also work as a great night light. Three rooms with one Compact fluorescent bulb. And a cool blue glow.

[Lauvender] Evil Fish? What are "evil fish" and why do they need a triangular fish tank?
-- SunTzu, May 12 2003

Guess I'll just have to build one to see.

Sorry about the link, I needed the room

[benlevi7] What a bad Idea... it’s just cruel… with a comment like that I would have thought you were as evil as [Lauvender].
