A strip curtain door but affixed to the floor and made of semi rigid plastic material resembling a tape measure except clear and scaled up. Under the floor, a mechanism resembling a double row of oversized retractable tape measures supports 2 rows of slightly curved plastic sheets which make up the curtain. When someone approaches the door, a motion sensor cues the door mechanism to rapidly retract, like letting go of a tape measure, and the plastic strips zip down into the floor, neatly coiling. Then a minute or so later the coils would slowly unfurl and re-extend up to block the door.
The benefit is the function of a strip curtain door without the difficulty of pushing through hanging strips of plastic.-- sninctown, Oct 14 2021 I'll take two.-- pocmloc, Oct 14 2021 Would like it more if it was a "floor mounted trip curtain door" Every time you approached it, it pops out of its floor level slot and trips you up, so that you crash head first through the door.-- xenzag, Oct 14 2021 Worth it just for the humour of xenzag's trip door annotation. Still chuckling as I imagine the hapless tripper reeling headlong through the doorway-- Edie, Oct 14 2021 I fell through a screen door once. Really strained myself.-- AusCan531, Oct 15 2021 The solution completely desolved his Rubik's cube.-- 2 fries shy of a happy meal, Oct 15 2021 I tripped over a box of lego and I was dismayed-- pocmloc, Oct 15 2021 random, halfbakery
