Sport: Ball Game
Foothoops   (+3, -2)  [vote for, against]
Futbol on Basketball Court

Hoop/net height, backboard, court dimensions are standard basketball dimensions.
2 Teams
5 Players to a side
Object:
Put soccer ball into hoop for points
Goalie is restricted to inside 3 point range of opposite end of court - Goalie may handle ball, and may attempt to sink basket using hands.
Inbounds passes must touch another player, whether by header or foot contact.
Points:
3 points from outside 3 point range, during course of normal play - as in Basketball
2 points from inside 3 point range...
1 point for successful penalty kicks at any range.
Goal scoring should be much lower than Basketcase.

When I'm playing basketball with a gang of friends, those that play football more than basketball (most of em) often resort to 'foothoops'. Indeed it is quite fun.

The ball used is most often an indoor football (that somebody happens to bring to annoy me because I quite clearly stated when organising event BASKETBALL)

thumbwax: better without a goalie, methinks, but some field research is probably needed.

Sounds like a game I played with my brother and a few others; it was just basketball with "feet only" rules. After a short hour and a half, the first goal was scored and a winning team emerged. We haven't played it since.

I dont follow Futbol..but from my understanding the goal is much bigger than a basketball hoop..and they still only manage to score roughly 2 or 3 points per game...now you're telling me that the accuracy will increase as the size of field and goal decrease???

In *Basketcase* maybe, but not Foothoops

Pretty much every time I go to play indoor five a side football everyone I play with will try to score in the basketball hoops at least a couple of times. Its *very* hard. I reckon you'd get a lot of nil-nil draws.

Yeah, where you from, Thumb, Pleasantville? Another entry in the Insanely Difficult Games log, right between Flying Golf and Fox Hypnotizing.

This actually 1. Isn't new as someone mentioned with the Aztec's. 2. It's not overly difficult to get the ball into the hoop. Now...add a couple players and it becomes much more difficult yes...but it's much more exciting for a non-soccer player to play this than to play soccer or to watch.

People have been doing this for years. Another one of these games the guy said, "I invented." Ya, if that were only true. How many of us have invented this game? lol. Thanks to the Az's for a good idea.
