Global Exclusion Term List   (+5)  [vote for, against]
Exclude these words from all searches on all websites

There is some material I never want to see or hear about ever, whether I'm searching for a website on Google/ Duckduckgo/Yahoo, a video on Youtube, a product on Amazon, a TV show on NetFlix, a photo on Flickr; anywhere. I find myself constantly typing in the same list of terms with minus signs in front of them in order to get the results I want and exclude Donald Trump. I mean, undesirable results. With more and more data online, excluding data is rapidly becoming as important as finding data.

This proposal is for a global list of words and phrases to exclude: it would be stored on my local computer, perhaps as a plain text file. It would be editable anytime.

The Global Exclude Program would run as an extension to a web browser and there would be "subscriptions" to commonly used websites (e.g. Youtube, Flickr, Google etc.) which would intercept searches, automatically append the list of stop words, and then submit the search.

Users can put their own stop words in addition to the ones that will be appended.

Since some search engines limit the number of search terms, including exclusion words, the premium version of this program will also filter the results (using scraping/API calls, whatever), running an after-search filter to remove all results that have one of the offending terms in the page name or title.

Thank you.

BTW, how's everyone doing? I came back to change my password, couldn't resist posting something. All's well with me, still at the same company I was at since I started posting on halfbakery :) I wish the best to all of you.

We already see only what we want to see, and hear only what we want to hear. Not sure this helps
