Public: Street Lighting
Green Invitation Lamps (Name copied, my apologies)   (+1)  [vote for, against]
Damn, which house number was that again [shuffle in the back seat]

Ever been invited to a party where you take just as long finding the house once you are in the sub-division as you did to get from your house to the sub-division. Well houses look the same, and house numbers are like always so small, it’s just a pain finding a house where there is no real numbering format.

Well, that’s where the green lamp comes in. The person in the house just puts in on when they invite guests. It sits outside and can be easily seen. Now it could happen that more than one house have the green light on that night, so you just have to search for the house between those with the glowing green light. Also the green light could have the house number posted in front to make searching even easier.

Common practice for children's birthday parties: balloons tied to the mailbox. This sounds easier, if less festive. Why green?

It was a St. Patrick' s day party.

nom, that broken text. is it a code?
-- po, Mar 19 2004

Some, I believe, use red lights. But perhaps this is a different type of invitation.

[po] what broken text?
-- nomadic_wonderer, Mar 19 2004

Seen this done. Wasn't green though, it was red. Flood light in the yard, shining on the house. Easy to find. Didn't need the house number, as it was the only house with a red light shining on it.

Being a food delivery person, this would be an absolute livesaver. The people would get their food much faster, and I wouldn't have to walk around the street aimlessly trying to squint to see the street numbers. Bravo! Crossaint for you!

if it's a good party, just follow the bass, or maybe the 50 cars infront of one house ?
-- SystemAdmin, Mar 19 2004

[Po], I am sorry that it come in lines. It'll be awesome if you could talk to Jutta about it. Keep us posted!

it appears fixed now, nom.

I agree with [SystemAdmin]. If its a good party, find the packed street, and follow the sound of the music.
