Halfbakery: Identity
Halfbakery Audio "Gallery"   (+5)  [vote for, against]
(Mostly for Bliss who was very excited to hear Jutta's voice on the radio this week).

I'd have hours of endless fun with a simple audio "gallery" of some of the more seasoned characters in the bakery, saying the kind of things you'd expect them to say, only in their own voices.

According to Bliss, Jutta would sound a bit like a Scandinavian tennis player, and I always imagine UB to sound a bit like Crocodile Dundee.

Reading some of the annos this week, my personal request would be a recording of a terse-sounding Waugs saying "Too Late. Step away from the duck."

I am so sad that I missed that radio broadcast.

How about an audio calendar?
-- phoenix, Jan 06 2004

phoenix: it wouldn't be at all difficult to add audio files to the HB calendar. But not streaming (don't know how to do that thing).
-- DrCurry, Jan 06 2004

now this one is a very good idea! + but can we screen out Dr. Curry!
-- nomadic_wonderer, Jan 06 2004

I always imagined [DrCurry] sounding like the serious highway patrol officer type ...
-- Letsbuildafort, Jan 06 2004

I know a few academics that I imagine [Vernon] would sound like... :P

([Vern], I assure you I know some very interesting academics.)
-- Detly, Jan 06 2004

It's strange how the mind assigns voices to people, this idea would be kinda cool once baked. Then again, it might ruin my preconceptions of bakers...

I'll have a look at implementing it on my site [Fishy]...I don't expect it will be anytime soon though.
-- silverstormer, Jan 06 2004

waugs -> Joe Friday.
-- RayfordSteele, Jan 06 2004

nm: no, but for that, we can certainly screen you out!
lbf: blissmiss once told me I sound like UnaBubba, which has to be a turn-up for the books. Or evidence that Professor Higgins' services are sorely needed around here.
-- DrCurry, Jan 06 2004

po told DrCurry "I sound like UnaBubba"?
-- Fishrat, Jan 06 2004

Perhaps its the username, but I hear DrCurry as William Hartnell
-- RayfordSteele, Jan 06 2004

it wasn't me, DC.
-- po, Jan 06 2004

[Noted.]
-- DrCurry, Jan 06 2004

If it looks like [po], walks like [DrCurry], and talks like [UnaBubba], it must be a [FishRat].
-- k_sra, Jan 06 2004

what a curious chap he must be.
-- po, Jan 06 2004

I didn't ask the creators of Overbaked if it was ok, so they may delete everything there. However, there's about 20 Mb of space in the files area so I created a Halfbakery Audio Gallery folder. Please record a sample of your voice, convert it to MP3, and post it. Keep it under 300 Kb, so that everyone can play. If you need help with any of this send me an e-mail.
-- Worldgineer, Jan 06 2004

<po's voice>exterminate, exterminate, exterminate, extermminnnatte</po's voice>
-- po, Jan 06 2004

-- Letsbuildafort, Jan 06 2004

[worldgineer] thanks! I'm toying with the idea of putting a link to my radio show here as a link...
-- Fishrat, Jan 06 2004

do it [Fishrat] - reveal your true identity!
-- hazel, Jan 06 2004

(see link for [fishrat]'s true identity)
-- Worldgineer, Jan 06 2004

awww ... [DrCurry] all pissed off?
-- nomadic_wonderer, Jan 06 2004

Censors? We don't need no stinking censors!
-- RayfordSteele, Jan 06 2004

nm: not possible (unless you're UnaBubba, of course), but we do discriminate.
-- DrCurry, Jan 06 2004

Interesting what you think I might sound like.

I think I sound a bit like UnaBubba. Differently accented, however.
-- waugsqueke, Jan 06 2004

I'll add my voice-over as soon as I get home ... <sarcasm> OOH, great, a reason to live - I might get to hear [UnaBubba]! </s>
-- Letsbuildafort, Jan 06 2004

Overbaked is now an open-membership group, with no clunky membership approval thingy to deal with.

RT, I think you're the perfect man to do the mixing...
-- RayfordSteele, Jan 06 2004

Maybe we should all provide recordings of ourselves doing imitations of UnaBubba?
-- DrCurry, Jan 06 2004

Sounds like a hoot, DrC. Though, I can imagine UnaBubba soundling like Vinnie Jones too ...
-- Letsbuildafort, Jan 06 2004

Ok ... got mine up ... I sound like such a Disc Jockey on the computer.
-- Letsbuildafort, Jan 06 2004

"Put THAT on your toast" isn't a HB tagline .. its one from our race team ... and YES, thats it. This oration for the visually impared is a public service brought to you free of charge ...
-- Letsbuildafort, Jan 06 2004

Oh ... sorry, Gromit ... uuuuh ... thanks ... I misjudged the sarcasm and missed the landing ...
-- Letsbuildafort, Jan 07 2004

I'm going to link to a stream of my radio show, but only for today, because I'm shy. "Stoney in the Morning", although that's not my real name either, starts in 15 minutes. Performance art, luvs... don't ya know. 6.00 - 09.00 GMT.
-- Fishrat, Jan 07 2004

Well, put your recording device of choice where your mouth is ... so you halfbake while at work, Fishy?

The Darkness for a first song ... good call ... HAD NO IDEA HE SOUNDED LIKE THAT - RUBBISH ... you said it, not me! hehe :P... we love you, Fishy!
-- Letsbuildafort, Jan 07 2004

No, I work while I'm 'baking. This is a strange blurring of boundaries.
-- Fishrat, Jan 07 2004

I think its awesome. I do the same thing, and I'm honored to know your secret identity. Not everyday you get to Halfbake with a celebrity ... I'd like to request some Ramones, or some Vandals ... you guys play any Vandals?
-- Letsbuildafort, Jan 07 2004

Its 12:28 pm here right now ... -6:00 GMT
-- Letsbuildafort, Jan 07 2004

Great show, Lee. Thank you for sharing with all of us and for the HB mention on the air.
<Listening from the U.S.A. at 10:45 PM>

Have a dedication for my girlfriend pending. Don't know if it will make the show. She's listening.
-- Klaatu, Jan 07 2004

OK, this is getting bizarre! What's the dedication? I'll read it out in a few minutes. lbf: My boss will shoot me (sadly) if I play the Ramones.
-- Fishrat, Jan 07 2004

Umm ... Can you play any Ataris or Less Than Jake? Just something rock before I go off to bed ... but its not a super pressing issue.
-- Letsbuildafort, Jan 07 2004

Fishrat, I'm so glad you proposed this idea. Sadly, I am unable to link to your show at present--had to reload my OS and I still have files to update. How much longer will you be on? (Currently it is 7:45 GMT.)

So far I've caught Rayford~ and 'Fortbuilder's' voice on Overbaked. Absolutely awsome to hear your voices guys!
-- Tiger Lily, Jan 07 2004

Weekdays starting at 6:00am GMT ... 6am-9am methinks, unless something comes up ... and stop it, I'm blushing!
-- Letsbuildafort, Jan 07 2004

I'm on every weekday 6-9 am (GMT), but I'll probably remove the link from the 'bakery in a couple of days to keep my secret safe. By the way, how do I get onto Overbaked? I've never been there.
-- Fishrat, Jan 07 2004

Its linked above. Just joining the group shouldn't be that tough, but its required to get to the goods ...
-- Letsbuildafort, Jan 07 2004

Oh God...I'm linked! Listen to you, Fishrat! You got that cute little accent and all and what a cool show, cool playlist! I just want it to be summer now riding around with the top down!

Erm.. the car's top...

You knew what I meant.
-- Tiger Lily, Jan 07 2004

You don't drive a Jensen Interceptor do you? ... The image I had was kind of funny.
-- Letsbuildafort, Jan 07 2004

Ha! I know why you asked.
-- Tiger Lily, Jan 07 2004

Interesting ... Thats very interesting indeed.
-- Letsbuildafort, Jan 07 2004

UB, I most certainly do NOT have a cockney accent - blimey mate, get yer ears washed out.

eggy, back me up here or I will never speak to you again!
-- po, Jan 07 2004

[admin] I've tidied up this thread now, please don't be offended if I've deleted your anno. Also, I'll remove the link to my radio show tomorrow, thanks for all the contribs.
-- Fishrat, Jan 07 2004

Ok, mine's up. It's a fairly bad joke told without timing or correct inflection (really, just reading it from a joke website). I was going to re-record but don't want to wake my wife.

There's a sound file from henrietta posted there that's apparently blank (35kb wav file). Who are you?

[Ray] - you sound nothing at all like I imagined. [LBAF] - you sound similar but different than I pictured.
-- Worldgineer, Jan 07 2004

... and what was she saying??
-- k_sra, Jan 07 2004

I think it's something backwards. But I can't get any of my players to play it backwards. Drat.

(later) Nevermind. It wasn't backwards. I'm pretty sure it's "Quackenmike. Emodi eew do dwemodi dom."
-- Worldgineer, Jan 07 2004

Yeah, but it won't work for files you loaded. I ended up using the cheapo sound recorder to record what was coming out of another sound program, then reversing that. Even more gibberish than the original.
-- Worldgineer, Jan 07 2004

anything to do with John Lennon?
-- po, Jan 07 2004

It's not in English is it?
-- hazel, Jan 07 2004

It's a message from the devil. Will somebody burn/drown/throw onions at Henrietta_Hugglebee immediately.
-- Fishrat, Jan 07 2004

Well the XP one doesn't. But that doesn't matter anyway - I made it work and it's gibberish. Anyone have a guess as to who this mystery person is? (Fishrat beat me to this anno, oddly enough answering my question before I asked it)
-- Worldgineer, Jan 07 2004

Do deaf people envision "voices" of people when they read quotes/posts/etc. from them? ("A nudge is as good as a wink, to a blind man," type of thing.) Or do they envision Sign language (an evolved language, unique in its own right, similar more to Chinese than English)?
-- latka, Jan 07 2004

Nice recording, [sufc] ... even considering the microphone!

Who exactly is Henrietta_Hugglebee? I'm kind of scared now.

Actually, [World] if you go into "AUdio Properties" in the windows recorder, and select your output, you can then reverse it from there. And its still gibbrish.
-- Letsbuildafort, Jan 07 2004

That last bit sounds very similar to, "or everyone will think I'm a god"

Talk about your celebrity halfbakers.
-- 2 fries shy of a happy meal, Jan 07 2004

Henrietta is an american impersonating a cockney accent and it starts something like: "crickey mate .....think I' m a guy" I have my suspicions :)
-- po, Jan 07 2004

I hear bran will help that.
-- Worldgineer, Jan 07 2004

you will regret that to your very fibre.
-- po, Jan 07 2004

.. so good you forget the fruit!
-- k_sra, Jan 07 2004

World, so how did you imagine I sounded? The recording job was pretty lousy...
-- RayfordSteele, Jan 07 2004

Older, with a deeper voice. Don't know why.
-- Worldgineer, Jan 07 2004

I do have a low singing voice, but not a deep one. Not enough girth.
-- RayfordSteele, Jan 07 2004

[fishrat] just want to say that i loved your show...it was fun to listen to it before i went to bed. I agree with [tiger lily] you do have a cute accent. ;) Thanks for sharing that with me. in return i will share pictures of my baby. [link] enjoy. :)
-- babyhawk, Jan 07 2004

Just because it has a baby attached doesn't necessarily mean that it's yours, b_p.

Thanks, babyhawk.
-- Fishrat, Jan 07 2004

Damn. Tell "Daddy" to watch where he's stepping!
-- k_sra, Jan 07 2004

He wears a 4-month old baby (sized) shoe ... the unconventional shoe size, I know, but its all we have to go on ...
-- Letsbuildafort, Jan 07 2004

but she is only a week old there...and that is a size 16 shoe, so a 4 month old baby shoe size would be huge!!!

[k_sra] the baby makes too much noise on most occasion...so we have a hard time missing her...;)
-- babyhawk, Jan 07 2004

"my baby...kicks ass." heeheehee
-- babyhawk, Jan 07 2004

Man, [Rayford], it sounds like you were really losing the battle with that damn purple reptile in your audio snippet ...
-- Letsbuildafort, Jan 07 2004

I found if you whack the toy hard enough against the desk, it stops.
-- RayfordSteele, Jan 07 2004

I keep that info on the back-burner for later use ... thanks, Ray
-- Letsbuildafort, Jan 07 2004

[Ray] I agree with [World], you definatly sound different from my perception of you.
[lbaf] you sound how I imagined, sorry to make you sound predictable...

As soon as I get my mic back, I'll add my own.
-- silverstormer, Jan 07 2004

Aww, its cool, [stormer], I'm glad ya gave it a listen.
-- Letsbuildafort, Jan 07 2004

yeah, i agree with [silverstormer]..you sound just like yourself lbaf....:)
-- babyhawk, Jan 07 2004

I hear that when you get enough liquer in me I don't sound at all like myself. :P
-- Letsbuildafort, Jan 07 2004

Die Barny Die made me laugh, [RayfordSteele]. OK, I'm up on the "Gallery" too.
-- Fishrat, Jan 08 2004

Can everyone stop freaking me out, already! Mind you, Hannah Hunter... Henrietta_Hugglebee... Shirley no coincidence?
-- Fishrat, Jan 08 2004

She is... I got her to make a Bob The Builder reference in a later bulletin, just for you.
-- Fishrat, Jan 08 2004

Alright, I'm there now too. Where's everybody else, I wonder? Huh?? Huh?? I want to hear my dear [Po]'s voice!
-- Overpanic, Jan 08 2004

If you need a microphone, [po] I'll gladly send one to you!
-- Letsbuildafort, Jan 08 2004

Ok ... got my sound contribution up!
-- babyhawk, Jan 08 2004

LBaF, you're too kind.
-- po, Jan 09 2004

No fair. Can't listen to fishy or anyone 'cos at work without earphones. Waaaaah! Also have no way of recording me saying "A Haaaandbaaag!". Am very dissapointed.
-- squeak, Jan 09 2004

[Squeek], et. al. I have a solution for you. I have a (free trial) toll-free voicemail number. Call 877-571-5502 (US), and leave a message. Make sure to leave your HB name so I know who you are. If it works, I'll be able to grab the sound clip off the internet. Hurry though, I only get the account for 7 days.

(later) I just tested it and it works perfectly. Voice mail away!
-- Worldgineer, Jan 09 2004

Can I request [thumbwax] saying the following: "Welcome to my profile, Motherfucker" ?

Thanks, btw, [World] very generous of you.
-- k_sra, Jan 09 2004

May the prank calling commence.
-- Letsbuildafort, Jan 09 2004

[thumb] does not sound like I'd imagined him to sound.

My guess is [k_sra].
-- Worldgineer, Jan 09 2004

My british accent is no how that confident! Besides, I'm much shyer than I thought I would be. I'll probably end up burping into the phone and hanging up.
-- k_sra, Jan 09 2004

I can't tell accents very well over the HB. Except [po]'s. In fact, that's my next guess. [po], are you [thumbwax]?
-- Worldgineer, Jan 09 2004

what? gawd blimey mate - thats one posh chick! you sure it aint blissmiss or praps its jutta having a joke on you all..

hey, awfuk thought - it might be the Bubba with a flawless cockney eastender interprets the Queen! 'mazing feet of vocal dexterity.
-- po, Jan 09 2004

Aww, c'mon, [k_sra] ... PLEEEEEZE
-- Letsbuildafort, Jan 09 2004

yeah she's good, Fort. what an actress!
-- po, Jan 09 2004

But I want to hear [k_sra] SOOOO much. <*belch>
-- Letsbuildafort, Jan 09 2004

oh Fort, I will get her to telephone you - no problem.

get yourself smartened up first, she's worth the effort, & stop belching for gawd's sake.
-- po, Jan 09 2004

I'll put on my best tie. Wait ... d'oh

Thanks, [po] you're a saint.
-- Letsbuildafort, Jan 09 2004

bless you!
-- po, Jan 09 2004

Hmmm! Have 1.3Meg file ready to serve up. Cannot rationalise to small mp3. Must try harder.
-- gnomethang, Jan 09 2004

World, any ideas why I can play two of the three wav files, but not thumb's?

FJ, I hear the voice of a singer!

UnaBubba, any chance anytime soon we'll know what you "really" sound like?
-- Tiger Lily, Jan 09 2004

[TL] I changed the spaces to underscores - try it now.

Actually, it looks like it won't let me play several of the files now. I have a theory there's a limit to the amount you can download in a day, which is blown as soon as you click on [FJ]'s sound file (shaming him for breaking my <300kb limit).
-- Worldgineer, Jan 09 2004

Sorry, I loaded a faster version now.
-- FarmerJohn, Jan 09 2004

FJ, Does the faster version sound like little FarmMouse?
-- Tiger Lily, Jan 09 2004

More like a one-armed milk maid with fleas.
-- FarmerJohn, Jan 09 2004

World, I think maybe its more a bandwidth limit, you think? I had no trouble playing any of the files just now, except that I still can't get thumbwax' file to play. It appears to download but I don't know where it goes after that.

I would imagine after the the novelty of this dies down just a bit, there will be no problem with Farmer's original file.
-- Tiger Lily, Jan 09 2004

Oh dear FJ, (lol) you do have a way with images...
-- Tiger Lily, Jan 09 2004

Wait a minute ... is your true identity ... erm ... hold on, its comin' to me ... uhh ... OOH! I got it - Goliath from Davey and Goliath?
-- Letsbuildafort, Jan 09 2004

I've been on the sidelines for awhile watching and listening to the written words in my head by all you "regular" (not ethel) HBs. Your voices rang in my head as clear as the doorbell on my house of cards. Now though, through this idea, your voices are real and fight with my fantasy audio files. IT'S GREAT. I love the tussle.
-- Asta, Jan 10 2004

I want to know how babyhawk made baby babyhawk make a baby noise on cue. Was it editing software, or is baby babyhawk destined for a life in theatre?
-- Fishrat, Jan 10 2004

I personally think she taught the baby tricks ... or pinched the poor thing.
-- k_sra, Jan 10 2004

Wow, I find that perplexing. I'll take your word, but it seems hard to believe. I have never seen a machine that doesn't have some kind of sound card. I don't think it has anything to do with need, unless you need it not to have one for some reason. Out of the five in my household even the eight year old model can play CD-roms and both of my children's entry level machines have built in mics.
-- Tiger Lily, Jan 10 2004

While we're at it, why not have famous 'bakers record and post, "Hey, this is [name] and you're listening to HMP3 radio." (or something like that) Um, no reason?
-- ghillie, Jan 10 2004

I was guessing you did. Still of all the people I know who build their machines, I've never heard of one built to spec as a mute.

I meant to add also, [UB], it would be nice if you do add your voice. There's something calming about the reassurance of humaness in each persons voice file, silly or not. Likewise, I've enjoyed very much DrCurry's pictures of the real people behind the 'bakers. In the same way I find it calming to see the real faces and know that no one is a god or a demon. Just human and still just as interesting. I wish more 'bakers would contribute to these collections.
-- Tiger Lily, Jan 10 2004

[fishrat] i just recorded it when she was in a good mood...she makes noices like that all the time when she is looking around & playing...

[k_sra] no i didn't pinch her.....i just got lucky! :)
-- babyhawk, Jan 10 2004

Actually, [Fishrat], it really happened like that. babyhawk, and babybabyhawk used the microphone on my computer ... note the poor recording quality.
-- Letsbuildafort, Jan 10 2004

[Lbaf], I sent a recording to [World]. Maybe he'll post it when he wakes up....
-- k_sra, Jan 10 2004

WOoHOo! - thanks, [k_sra]!
-- Letsbuildafort, Jan 10 2004

congrats LBaF...
-- po, Jan 10 2004

<laughs with glee at mayhem>
-- k_sra, Jan 10 2004

Glad to hear you took a bit of time out from fortbuilding to build something a bit more high maintenance, Lbaf. And well done to babyhawk for doing the bulk of the work. Strangely enough, that was always my experience of fortbuilding as a child - some kid would have the big idea, and it would always be left to others to do the donkeywork...
-- lostdog, Jan 10 2004

HAHAHAHAHAA... ok, we thought you guys were thinking that. No, letsbuildafort is not my husband. He is my roomate with me and my husband & now my baby. We are just friends..:) Man, i didn't want to give away hints to my true identity, but i couldn't let you guys think that...;)
-- babyhawk, Jan 10 2004

NO ... NONONONONONO ... I'm just roommates with [babyhawk] and her husband ... we just live in the same house ... oh god .. My crush lies squarely with [k_sra] ...
-- Letsbuildafort, Jan 10 2004

[um.. 'fort, you're checking the apartment ads, right?]
-- waugsqueke, Jan 10 2004

*shhhhhhh!!!
-- Letsbuildafort, Jan 10 2004

// [um.. 'fort, you're checking the apartment ads, right?]//

What?!?! Am I not good enough to live with?? I do dishes..??

(for those who missed it, please note the strong sarcasm!!)
-- babyhawk, Jan 10 2004

Worldgineer does that number only work in the U.S.?
I phoned early this morning and it sounded like you saying leave a message, but it's hard to tell.
-- 2 fries shy of a happy meal, Jan 11 2004

world tells me it works for the entire globe!

Amos, thanks for your web-space. saved my sanity.
-- po, Jan 11 2004

[2 fries], you made it through. Looks like it's world-accessable but probably only US-free.

[all], 3 new sound clips are up - [k_sra]'s lovely voice and less-than-lovely vocal stylings, [2 fries] through an intercom, and if the 3rd one's [po] then I'm [UnnaBubba].
-- Worldgineer, Jan 11 2004

Now I'm gonna have to call-in and beat [k_sra]'s measly belch ... and [futurebird] you sound GREAT. What studio did you record that at?
-- Letsbuildafort, Jan 11 2004

14 'bakers up so far. I'm excited by the gusto with which you've all embraced this idea. And yet still nobody has tried my Red Cabbage Milkshake. Except possibly k_sra, judging by her audio clip. Fickle fickle fickle.
-- Fishrat, Jan 12 2004

It was green cabbage, if you must know, and what a lousy burp that was. Musta been nerves! : )

Love [po]'s voice. She's a lot sexier than I imagined...
-- k_sra, Jan 12 2004

Oh gawd, I don't really sound like that, do I?
Do I?
-- 2 fries shy of a happy meal, Jan 12 2004

What? Like [po]?
-- k_sra, Jan 12 2004

Like 2 drinks shy of a dialysis machine?
-- Letsbuildafort, Jan 12 2004

You don't sound bad, [2fries]. Lemme go listen again...

Come to think of it, you *do* sound a bit like [po]. Creepy.
-- k_sra, Jan 12 2004

I hope my nationality doesn't make you hear me as Speedy Gonzalez.
-- Pericles, Jan 12 2004

Pretty much anytime, [k_sra].
-- Letsbuildafort, Jan 12 2004

But everybody loves Speedy! [link]
-- Amos Kito, Jan 12 2004

:D

Alright. Gimme your best shot. :P - both of you
-- Letsbuildafort, Jan 12 2004

I was grinning at k_sra, but I love a challenge...
hmmh, 6 hour time difference <counts hours on fingers>
-- po, Jan 12 2004

[po] you should be an expert at that time conversion thing by now? ;)
-- Klaatu, Jan 12 2004

//Gimme your best shot. :P//

You ought not say such things... especially to [po].
-- k_sra, Jan 12 2004

After the "right-hand drive Suzuki" fiasco, I THINK I can take a dishing-out. Just recieved my leathers today too *sniff* mmmm-leathery.
-- Letsbuildafort, Jan 12 2004

New sound clip: [Asta] left a message saying hello and goodbye.

[Asta] feel free to send me an e-mail if you'd like to chat.

(later) Sound clip removed at [Asta]'s request. Looks like we won her back (for now...)
-- Worldgineer, Jan 12 2004

[Asta] I think it's sad that you feel contempt and disappointment with your bakery experiences. Personally I think you should stick around for a bit longer, you may get to like the place.

If however you do feel the need to depart, nice knowing you. You sound like a nice person.

Good luck! hASTA la vista...
-- silverstormer, Jan 12 2004

Asta, on listening to your message, (several times) I feel sad you are leaving and that you didn't give enough time to get to know our ways. Perhaps sweetie, you are taking yourself just a tad too seriously. bye for now.
-- po, Jan 12 2004

What [Worldgineer] said, [Asta], shoot me an e-mail sometime. We've all had our varying experiences on the HB. I seem to be in a bit of an idea slump as it were, and feel content just reading and annoing. Would certainly like to see you kick it with us some more!

See "Low Budget Spacecraft" by [normzone] if ya need a pick-me-up ... s'what I do ...
-- Letsbuildafort, Jan 12 2004

can't find the idea, gromit! where you hiding it?
-- po, Jan 12 2004

Side-View Home Design (shaming [po] for not clicking search and typing Asta)
-- Worldgineer, Jan 12 2004

I did!

I liked that idea!

cannot find Asta any more though.
-- po, Jan 12 2004

<Added link to [Asta] for [po]>
-- silverstormer, Jan 12 2004

i really liked her idea, and thought that all was nice. But maybe she was refering to some other comments on some other ideas?? I hope you don't leave [asta]....i am hoping to see some more ideas from you :)
-- babyhawk, Jan 12 2004

I'd like to hear [jutta]'s impression of [UnaBubba].
-- Worldgineer, Jan 12 2004

I want to hear [UnaBubba]'s impression of [UnaBubba]
-- silverstormer, Jan 12 2004

I don't see you there, [silver]. Care for an impression of [waugs]?
-- Worldgineer, Jan 12 2004

[world] I am currently on "holiday" at my parents house, unfortunatly my laptop has no microphone. As soon as I get back home I'll post a recording.
-- silverstormer, Jan 12 2004

You can't get out of it that easily. Leave me a message: 877-571-5502. The message service sends me a sound file. Sorry about the boring greeting - I was at work and didn't want to draw attention.

(thinks a moment) Wait - I get it. You don't want to make across-the-globe calls from your parents' house. You're excused... for now.
-- Worldgineer, Jan 12 2004

I feel humbled by your responses to my message. Thanks for the nice words. I deleted my idea that was the subject of name calling and negativity...not that it didn't DESERVE the comments. It was just hard to hear 'em.

I love it when an idea gets tossed around, but trashed around doesn't do it for me. Banter is good. Thanks for listening. Literally.
-- Asta, Jan 13 2004

Name calling is never called for, but negativity is sometimes a product of some unwritten rules around here. I'm sure you've lurked enough to learn a few of them, but I've linked to [krelnik]'s always helpful FAQ file.
-- Worldgineer, Jan 13 2004

We're only human. Well, some of us. And sometimes so senseless things, like forget their "3 am obligations" *cough_sra*
-- Letsbuildafort, Jan 13 2004

World/Asta: I remember checking krelnik's helpful FAQ section for the first time, just after waugs told me that one of my ideas was "evil". I've never quite been the same since. <sinister laugh>
-- Fishrat, Jan 13 2004

didn't answer at 3 a.m. either...
-- po, Jan 13 2004

I know ... I missed it, I was trying on my leathers and starting the break-in process. I got some new pics up on my profile page if you wanna see what I was doing with my time last night ... And [k_sra] ... so beautiful, words fall painfully short.
-- Letsbuildafort, Jan 13 2004

To my surprise and delight there were three new messages this morning. I will post them immediately. This tells me there may be some still out there - please hurry, there is only a day or two left on my voicemail trial.
-- Worldgineer, Jan 15 2004

[Klaatu], lovin' the sound.
-- k_sra, Jan 15 2004

Just for the record, the po file is not po's voice. The Thumb file is not Thumb's voice either.

And po does not have a cockney accent. It's more South London than East.
-- egbert, Jan 15 2004

thanks eggy!

OK, I confess. the thumbwax one is mine - I do hope he forgives me!
-- po, Jan 15 2004

[Klaatu] are you Bruce Campbell? ... and [Egbert] ... thats just classic ... now I await [DrC]'s impression of [Egbert]
-- Letsbuildafort, Jan 15 2004

That's me up there. I sound a bit Frank Butcher cos of the sore throat but you get the general ideal.
-- hazel, Jan 15 2004

Narf. Not really. Is it finally [UnaBubba]?
-- k_sra, Jan 15 2004

I think the "somebody" is UB, although the literary reference escapes me.

And po - I knew that. ; )
-- egbert, Jan 15 2004

agree, egbert - cannot understand those *english* inflections very well though.
-- po, Jan 15 2004

Odd that there was very little discussion of UB after he posted (he is the "somebody"). Quite close to the voice I'd imagined.

Oh, and that just isn't fair, [pluterday].
-- Worldgineer, Jan 20 2004

[pluterday] is nothing if not unfair.
-- k_sra, Jan 21 2004

Oh, dear—I was talking to that scarecrow in the field.
Oh, my <tears> I'll never forgive myself! Never—never—never!
-- pluterday, Jan 22 2004

//You ought not say such things... especially to [po].//

Lesson learned the hard way on that ...
