Halfbakery: Game
Halfbakery Galaxy Nexus Android Ice Cream Sandwich Guinea Pig Game   (0)  [vote for, against]
Find the ideas that manage to have the most unintelligible-to-the-naiive-reader titles without using extremely obscure words

This would be a game that we would play, where each player would submit an entry (or multiple entries) consisting of the title of an idea previously posted. Submitting your own ideas' titles would not be allowed. Also, it would be necessary to link to the ideas so other players could read them.

Then, the entry would be judged according to how well it manages to confuse or perplex a reader who doesn't know what the idea is, while making perfect sense to a reader who does know what the idea is, without using any overly uncommon words or jargon.

Perhaps an example would elucidate this better: I would submit [bungston]'s "Vacuum kernel hose ladder" [link]. Upon reading that title, if you don't know what the idea is about, you will probably be quite confused and have no idea how those words go together in that order to describe an idea. However, after reading the idea, it becomes apparent that the title clearly describes a ladder made of hoses filled with "vacuum kernels", which are sealed gas-containing jamming particles that expand to jam with their neighbors when the external air pressure is decreased. That title also uses no words that the average person wouldn't know. Therefore, that entry would be a good one.

I don't know how the actual mechanics of this game would work best. Perhaps one point for every submission that is judged by the other players to be a good one (or not objected to by the other players). Perhaps some kind of scale on which to score the titles, based on number of words, nonsense-to-the-naïve-reader : sense-to-the-informed-reader ratio, or other factors.

An actual news headline. My favorite headline of all time. [notexactly, Dec 29 2016]

Vacuum kernel hose ladder. [bungston]'s idea that I used as an example in my idea [notexactly, Dec 29 2016]

Here it is ! Three_20legs_20of_20the_20tripod
THAT was the result of a search through my five score and some list of ideas on the 'bakery - talk about a trip down memory lane... [normzone, Dec 29 2016]

I think that somewhere around here we have a game where one person writes the title, and somebody else has to follow up with providing the idea.

But I can't find it ...

Re: Three legs of the tripod

I saw the title of that during my prior art search before posting this idea, but I didn't click on it because I didn't think it sounded relevant. In a way it's kind of the inverse of my idea. I like it.

Re: spelling of naïve

If you look closely you will see that I spelled it correctly (with diaeresis, even) in the body text, but when I tried to do so in the subtitle, the site changed it to "ï", so "naiive" was my workaround.
