Halfbakery: Meeting
Halfbakery Picnic   (+1)  [vote for, against]
Outdoors- so the odor can dissipate.

Other sites have "baked" an annual get-together of one kind or another.

Imagine a parking lot full of dimpled cars and carbicles. We'll serve naan gloves with helium soda and seafood pizza. (PO please bring the carbonated ketchup)

We can play ana-graham crackers and use bizarre metaphors.

Hawaii is a logical host-site.

12th Annual Anglo-American Halfbakery Convention http://moniplex.com...ain.php?picture=129
Just some of the throngs packing the Halfbakery Picnic. Actually, we had eight Bakers on three continents (if we count L.A. as an island completely unto itself): snarfyguy, buddha_pest and DrCurry in the flesh; po, egbert and Rods_Tiger teleconferenced in from London; and thumbwax via a very shaky satellite link. [DrCurry]

Ditto. [DrCurry, Oct 05 2004]

Susen invited everyone over for Memorial Day once. No one came. Wasn't Hawaii, though I doubt that would make a difference.

I was going to suggest NY, but that would be selfish of me. Besides, an amazing number of interesting people here are aussies. (!!)
-- mahatma, May 14 2003

Heck, I tried NYC right before Christmas, but everyone was tied up or dead. We could try again, though - pick a date.
-- DrCurry, May 14 2003

By the Bethesda Fountain. Let's say June 7.
-- DrCurry, May 14 2003

Yeah, but none of them showed up last time.
-- DrCurry, May 14 2003

Hideaway Island, Port Vila, Vanuatu?
-- bristolz, May 14 2003

Sure, if you want to hang out on the touristy side of the island.

BTW: I'm not sure why, but I feel a bit hesitant to be alone on a little island with some that gather here.
-- Worldgineer, May 14 2003

In New York I have a namesake (my real name) whom frequently features on NY Society websites. Prehaps I could persuade him to attend as my proxy ...
-- Aristotle, May 14 2003

new york good with me
-- senatorjam, May 14 2003

It's okay, we could vote the weirdos off the island.
-- bristolz, May 14 2003

The Azores seem to be a convenient diplomatic locale. Anyone have the Spanish foreign secretary's number?
-- RayfordSteele, May 15 2003

bris: can do that in New York too - the middle bit, anyway.
-- DrCurry, May 15 2003

Curry: if that was true it would have been done long ago.
-- Worldgineer, May 15 2003

Hey, if it's Hawaii then I can show you around.
-- oatcake, May 16 2003

June 7 is a better date for me. Any objections? (Yeah, yeah, bris, but you're not going anyway.)
-- DrCurry, May 16 2003

You're right. Wave to everyone for me. Blow kisses.
-- bristolz, May 16 2003

Take pictures.
-- bristolz, May 16 2003

Bring an umbrella. (Though there is cover there if it's raining heavily.)
-- DrCurry, Jun 05 2003

It was quick and dirty, though, wasn't it? Allow me to rephrase that. Unsure if Rods could hear me beyond the intro, as all I got was static beyond that point (Not from Rods though) so I gave/hung up after 45 secs. Though subsequently I did have @ 5 minutes of convo with egbert (having more fun than should legally be allowed) and po on another call.
From this USn's linguistic perspective, the males had vocal inflections not dissimilar to my own, (which can be taken to be a thing - good or bad, heh). However, with po being the second of two female halfbakers I've briefly spoken with over these few years, rest assured that the fairer half is indeedly-do, blessed with voices just as pretty as a song.
-- thumbwax, Jun 07 2003

Oh, yeah, and we even came up with some Halfbaked ideas. See links.
-- DrCurry, Jun 08 2003

Kind Doctor: Would you mind fixing your Coco-Nutz link? It's missing its zzzz. Maybe too much caffeine.
-- Cedar Park, Jun 09 2003

Looks okay to me (maybe someone else fixed it).
-- DrCurry, Jun 09 2003

I've got a pitchfork, who's got torches?
-- thumbwax, Jun 09 2003

I heard talk this was an annual event..anyone up for lunch ?
-- neilp, Jun 07 2004

Anyone for Salem, Oregon USA on August 21, 2017? Hotel rooms may be hard to find though.
-- Klaatu, Jun 08 2004

nah, washing my hair, sorry.
-- po, Jun 08 2004

Oregon sounds good to me. But I'm busy August 21, 2017. Can we switch it to the next weekend?
-- Worldgineer, Jun 08 2004

I would like to offer the services of my trained pigeons to clean up after the picnic.
-- etherman, Jun 08 2004

How about western Canada?
-- swimr, Jun 29 2004

I'll fly my car to any where you guys are willing to meet. 2017, is going to be a bit tricky, perhaps I shall ask Pluterday for a ride.
-- sartep, Jun 30 2004

Be sure to bring a telescope and a sun filter if you are coming to the August 21, 2017 meeting in salem, Oregon.
-- Klaatu, Jun 30 2004

//How about western Canada?// No, GWB invaded Canada in 2006. By 2017 there's only the US and Austria left (Austria untouched by then-president Schwarzenegger out of respect for his homeland).
-- Worldgineer, Jun 30 2004

<poor taste> would Austria be renamed....</poor taste>
