Halfbakery: Help   (+10, -3)  [vote for, against]
For questions not otherwise addressed

A category for questions not otherwise answered in the help page.

Serves several purposes:
1) Helps the user who has the problem in the first place.
2) Helps future users who may have same problem, but answer not in FAQ or help pages.
3) Can be used to fill out the help page with problems that aren't addressed but come up frequently enough that they should be. Once the question/solution is added to the help file, the original help request can be marked as such.
4) Keeps the bakesperson@halfbakery.com email inbox from becoming clogged with "I'm trying to fix this, but it's not working" when some of the thousands of other users could help.

A courtesy of the category could be placing the word "Solved" in front of the question when it is, indeed, solved.

Votes would be purely worthless.

EDIT: I hope that first bun was not also purely worthless *nervously tugs at collar*

OK, OK, I'll annotate it. I think that I was the first to bun yesterday anyway.

Good idea, although it would get clogged up very quickly, I'm sure. There would have to be a special page warning users to check the help pages and search the site before posting, and not to ask for any of the in-jokes, as they would become unpopular very quickly.

I think this might be a good idea. I can already see the arguments which will be raised against this (could become a social forum and grievance airing place, there are already support groups which you can ask etc.) but I for one have questions I would ask there. Have non-worthless bun.

Hang on, what exactly is a bun worth?

A bun is worth 2 points. Don't ask.

Is the HB so complicated?
-- bungston, Dec 18 2005

It apparently depends upon whom you ask.
-- jurist, Dec 18 2005

I'd rather clog bakesperson's inbox than bakesperson's website.
-- jutta, Dec 18 2005

I've always liked the idea of people helping eachother, so I'm giving this a +.
-- Honduras, Dec 18 2005

eachother=each other. There, you've been helped. Consider it a gift, of sorts ;-)
-- blissmiss, Dec 18 2005

Having your flaws (or flaw) pointed out in front of a hundred or so people is truly the greatest gift of all.
-- Honduras, Dec 19 2005

There is no gift like shame.
-- shapu, Dec 19 2005

Now you're just being silly.
-- Honduras, Dec 19 2005

Yep.
-- shapu, Dec 19 2005

A hundred or so people? Here? At the bakery?
