'whiskers' for low door frames

I'm a baldy. When this first happened to me at the age of about 12 I think, I noticed that I was banging my head on things more. Particularly when doing DIY. I realised that hair acts a bit like whiskers on a cat; and gives you an early impact warning.

Maybe, I thought, I should get a wig, or self adhesive tape with bristles on my head...

A more practical application though might be to replace 'Mind Your Head' tape for low door frames etc. with one that includes small bristles - about an inch or two would probably do. This could be created with the text into a narrow fabric design. It might even work for the fully-haired.

+1 with a name change maybe.

Yes, the bristles need to protrude at an angle and horizontally too ideally. A tape with bristles all over could be wrapped around the outside angle of the frame.

//And in my experience, by the time my hair feels the doorframe its too late to alter my trajectory sufficiently to do any good whatsoever.//
One might posit that the flaw lies not with the idea (which is magisterial in its subliminal promotion of the 'tache as an object that protects) but with one or more of the following: the speed at which you travel; your reflexes; the sensitivity of your scalp to movements in your hair; and the rigidity or otherwise of yr barnet.

Active laser height sensor before the doorframe which lights up a polite japanese bow sign if it is triggered.

Oh... this reminds me of the day in one fine summer, where I realized I was on longer 5'10". See... There was this stairway in my basement, one that I could run down at full speed and never whack my head on the ceiling... until I was 6'0". Ouch.

you grew 2" overnight? wow.
-- po, May 12 2010

No, [po]... I just didn't have a need to flee from one of my two brothers or rush out of the house in a while.

[INPO], you just reminded me of my own similar episode - first day of school, 9th grade, attempting my regular ballistic dismount from the school bus. Now I wonder if recalling some time that I took some aspirin will help the remembered headache...

How about pad "short" overhead door jambs "short" as defined by being less than the 90th percentile of adult heights for a country’s population Maybe reduce the door height and the overhead pad can act as insulation / air infiltration

I'm afraid I will have to rescind my bun, since the whole topic of Health and Safety is very seriously pissing me off at present. Nothing personal.
-- MaxwellBuchanan, May 14 2010

You can't rescind buns - it contravenes food hygiene regulations.
-- hippo, May 14 2010

OK [MB], replace the bristles with sharp spikes?
-- pocmloc, May 14 2010

That's not going to cheer me up. I am really that pissed off. No, really, I am.
