Hotdog Cormorant   (+6)  [vote for, against]
an eating treat - from your seat (without moving your feet)

Whilst merrily entertained at stadium sports, ballet or other events attended by people in abundance, the Hotdog Cormorant will prove quite satisfying.

These wonderous birds are perched at the end of each allocated seating aisle awaiting the signal to retrieve snacks. Place the correct change in a specially designed pouch on it's haunch and launch it into the air from your forearm with a majestic thrust.

Hotdog Cormorant will sail down to the vendor who will check and take the money, as the bird fills its entire beak and throat area with delicious warm sausage on a bun. A ring around the neck will prevent the cormorant from digesting it, so that when it returns to your seat you may simply remove the hotdog and munch away, enjoying the remainder of the game/concerto etc.

Cormorants at work http://www.yamasa.o...ons/aichi/ukai.html
Every time a cormorant manages to catch a fish, the Usho pulls them back into the boat and forces them to disgorge the fish. Why don't the cormorants just eat the fish, you ask? Because the metal ring around the base of the cormorants neck is just large enough to let extremely small fish through, but too small to let a bird swallow any fish of the size that fishermen, tourists and imperial family members are hoping to eat. made me think of Christopher Isherwood's poem - one of my favourites:

"The common cormorant (or shag) Lays eggs inside a paper bag, You follow the idea, no doubt? It is to keep the lightning out.

But what these unobservant birds Have never thought of, is that herds Of wandering bears might come with buns And steal the bags to hold the crumbs."

was tempted to expand on notion of a cormo-rant, but too busy today +

//but how hygienic is a cormorant's gullet?// Do you eat honey, [druze]?

I was a wee lad on a field trip. The Biology teacher shouted, "There's a Shag!".

One hundred pairs of eyes suddenly became very interested, only to descend into boredom once again, once they found out what he meant.

A mildly protected foil can cover the delicious hotdog - but not so much so that the cormorant won't also want to devour it.

I thought that cormorants couldn't take off unless they run along the surface of the water. Perhaps a system of canals could be built into the theater?
