Human Buzzer Thing   (-1)  [vote for, against]
Human Version of That Buzzer game

You know that game everyones played where you have to move a metal hoop along a bendy bit of wire without touching the wire and if you do it makes a buzz - How about a tight metal maze through which you have to navigate - having first charged yourself up on a Van de Graaf (Static Generator).

The rules are as follows:

1) Object : To get from one end to the other without making a sound (the discharge should be of sufficient strength to cause the player to scream).

2) Once you start you must keep trying untill you complete it.

3) 1st attempt requires a 1 min charge, 2nd 2mins, 3rd 3mins etc.

4) If you should be rendered unconscious - each player is entitled to slap you in turn untill you wake.

5) Someone with long hair must participate : see : http://www.amasci.com/emotor/bill3.jpg

...which doesn't work for me. [phoenix, Oct 04 2004]

When I was a kid, they kinda Baked this at the local public library - nylon carpets, metal book racks. No van der Graaf generators, but the sparks flew if you didn't keep well back from the railings, the shelves and other people.

[phoenix: I can see the picture, but it doesn't work for me either.]

I was liking this up until the 'enough voltage to make you scream' bit. Howabout a joy-buzzer type technology that simply vibrates?

That would be no fun - where's the risk?

(1) Charge Van de Graaf

(2) Connect hairspray can to the negative terminal at the base

(3) Connect bloke to Van de Graaf

(4) Spray hairspray on hair; oppositely-charged nature of hair and spray particles will economise on both hairspray and CFCs

Best before a big date
