International Dream Police   (+1, -2)  [vote for, against]
Ya gotta have a dream. If you don't have a dream, how you gonna have a dream come true?

The song "Happy Happy Happy Talk" from South Pacific says it best. "Ya gotta have a dream. If you don't have a dream, how you gonna have a dream come true?"

See link or find your own version of the song.

First you pass a law that everyone has to have a dream even if they have to rent one.

Than you get a crew from United Nations or some international outfit with too much time and money to do the enforcement. They get a list of everybody who might possibly have a dream. Then they go round and poll them one question "What is your dream?" and if they have time the follow up question "How you gonna make your dream come true?"

The results to be published somewhere other than Halfbakery for obvious reasons.

The dream police would have snappy little uniforms, drugs to help the non dreamers, a luncheon allowance, and bus fare. The dream police would use MLK and JFK etc. as inspirational icons. Maybe even have a TV show.

I dream of being with the dream police. +

It's a fair cop.

I remember in the Voyage of the Dawn Treader I think it was, they visited the island where dreams come true, it was a terrifying place. The advice of their guide was to stay awake for the duration of the visit.

Wake up! I smell fish.

You could poll enough people as to what their dreams are, and then with enough common themes, start a business in having them pay to see those dreams come true.

What if my dream is to not have a dream?

Bertrand Russell's already done that joke.

The next step would be a complex of meta-dreams which could, somehow, be Cantor-diagonalized.

Even Douglas Hofstadter has not quite done *that* joke, so far as I can recall.
