Kitchen Centrifuge   (+12, -1)  [vote for, against]
Multipurpose, with interchangeable baskets

This invention is meant as a replacement for the common centrifugal juicer. It would be approximately the same size and speed, but have several inserts for different purposes.

The inserts would include, but not be limited to:

A juice extractor for fruits and veggies.

A wire basket for extracting oil from fried foods (like the George Foreman fryer).

A basket for holding cheesecloth with curds and whey, to seperate out whey very quickly, for homemade cheese. Besides making regular cheeses, you could also use this for making cream cheese (which is very time consuming to make at home conventionally), or for making strained yogurt, aka greek yogurt.

(Optional) Test tube holders for school science experiments.

[edit: added]

And a plastic basket for holding salad greens that need to be drained of water.

And, not related to what basket is in place, it should have a speed control, and a timer.

Add a salad spinning capability, and I think you may have a winner. +

Or, for the foodie who has everything, a kitchen ultracentrifuge. Should be good for molecular gastronomy. I bet not even Heston Blumenthal has one of those.

Hash browns! Grate the taters, spin the water off; fry 'em up, spin the oil off.

That link is for nothing more than a salad spinner. Why are they saying it is a food processor, I wonder? There is no other function than spinning lettuce and greens.

+ sounds good.

Would it be able to separate specific ingredients? If so it would be useful for the kid who refuses to eat something because it has peas in it. (or carrots, or nuts, or...)

Also for coffee....<link>

Seriously? It works for me, but maybe because it's linking to my photobucket account. What do you get?
-- MaxwellBuchanan, Feb 04 2011

For me it links to this anno box. The one on FB worked fine though.

I saw instructions in Scientific American a few years ago describing how to make a centrifuge from a food processor. I think if i did that i'd try it by turning it on from another room for a bit.

You people are joshing me, no?

Needs cyclotron attachment for enriching uranium.
-- ed, Feb 04 2011

Aha - many thanks. Probably fixed now.
-- MaxwellBuchanan, Feb 05 2011

Ah, bollocks. I can't sort it because it works for me. Feel free to post the link if you can (thanks). I'll delete the other one.

Aw, thanks, [FT].

Now I miss the weird centripetal "you'll never leave" link :-(.

//Needs cyclotron attachment for enriching uranium.//

This would be sold to Axis of Evil countries by CIA controlled companies as a "juicer, ha ha," which would then be touted in the UN as evidence of illegal weapons programs justifying invasion.

[idischler], and you point is .... ?

On reading the title, we hoped this was a kitchen that could be used in free-fall conditions.
